Kolo for African player of the year

When the coaches start voting this guy should without a doubt at least be in the top 3 one of the main reason's why Arsenal got to the final. with not conceding a lot of goals and was the best player at the nation's cup Kolo is the man.

Top 3 maybe but my vote goes to Samuel Eto'o. Not only did he lead Barca to the final but he helped them win. He also won the Spanish cup and lead Cameroon to a respectable African Cup appearance (3 wins, 1 draw) while leading the tournament in scoring with 5 goals.

He should be in the top-3 yes, but I agree with Tony. It has to be Eto'o. Even I, not an Eto'o fan, should agree with this. The guy has had a great season. One of the best ever performances by an African based on a season.

Kolo should win no doubt, he stopped every decent forward that came his way.

Kolo got to the CL Final having to organise a bunch of kids and guys that had never played in defence or together before.

Prediction:

1. Eto'o
2. Drogba
3. K. Toure

I'd love to see Kolo win it. He bloody well deserves it.

No. Kolo should win it hands down. Wow, Eto'o plays for the European champs and scores goals but his year has been crappy to his standards. Not only should his team have won the ANC (in his opinion) or AT LEAST got to the final and played in the World Cup Finals, but they didn't. Not his fault of course, but if he played the same amount of games as Kolo did, then maybe there is some competition (LOL). Kolo has consistently been a lion despite the state of his team, a emerald, a star!

Make a change, choose a defender and a damn good defender at that. Not taking anything away from Samuel though , top-top player .

So from what I've read here Drogba and Eto'o both did that but Kolo didn't.

But I would like to know why other players who have acheived this have not been mentioned in this thread.

2006 is still not over and Drogba is tearing it up right now! If he keeps it up I might have to switch my vote his way.

I think that Drogba ,Eto'o, Essien ,Appiah ,Kolo are the favorites Appiah is the outsider while I predict Essien will probably come forth despite being so solid in Chelsea so far this season.

Most likely Eto'o will get it, but still I would like to think that Drogba stands a pretty good chance since he did get to an ANC final with his team; won the EPL; helped his side qualify for the WC and did quite well as IC's leader in it and is in blistering form scoring quite a few spectucular goals.
