Today , 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification will be kick off with CONCACAF First Round match between Aruba and St. Lucia

This is the first leg of this match , Aruba will play at St Lucia first June 5th than travel back to Aruba to play at a beautiful stadium. Their coach is Epi Albertus who is Aruban. He just started in 2010. He will compromise his team mostly from the Aruban Division di Honor, the top league in Aruba. This league is well established since 1960. There are 10 clubs in the top league and it has 2 lower leagues for regulation. Aruba seems to have all the right pieces in place to compete in the Caribbean but they have a terrible national team. They played 2 games in 2010 and lost both. 0-3 to Curacao and 0-3 to Venezuela. The national team never played in 2009. They played 4 games in 2008 losing 0-3 to Antigua and Barbuda, 0-1 to Antigua and Barbuda (home game) then they tied Curacao 0-0, lost 1-3 to Grenada. I had to go back to 2000 to find a win. The win was against the then hapless Puerto Rico.

St. Lucia national team in Suriname during Caribbean Cup

St Lucia is a poor island but has a newer stadium called George Odlum Stadium in Vieux Fort, St Lucia. The Stadium fits about 7,000 spectators. St Lucia had no money to maintain the stadium built by the Chinese government in 2000. It recently received $ to fix this newer fixture. Their coach is a St Lucia native Terrence Caroo. Saint Lucia last World Cup Qualifying they won their first round against Turks and the Caicos Islands. (3-2 aggregate). Then they lost 9-1 on aggregate in the second round to a strong Guatemala team. St Lucia has recently played in the 2010 Caribbean Cub and were stuck in a most difficult group. St Lucia had to travel to Surname in South America. There they only lost 0-1 to the host. Then they lost 1-2 to Guyana a neighboring South American Country. Then they tied Curacao 2-2. Both of the St Lucia proved to be a competative team here in South America. The team will mostly come from the newer top pro league in St Lucia. The top league will be called the Premier Division. The Premier division will have 8 clubs. There is relegation to a 8 club First Division. The First division also has regulation to the second Division. 2011 will be the first time for this (3 tier )setup.

It will be great game for us to watch and enjoy the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification ! This match will kick off at 22hGMT tonight

The preliminary competition of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ will start in Couva, Trinidad, on 15 June 2011, with Montserrat welcoming Belize to the Ato Boldon Stadium .

Montserrat have only ever won two games since their first international in 1991 and in 2002 they even earned the dubious, and unofficial, distinction as the worst team in the world when they were beaten by the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. Currently tied for last place in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, the islanders’ highest-ever position, attained in 2006, was 198th, only a marginal boost from their current position.

Belize, for their part, might be considered giants in the world game by comparison to Montserrat. Located in the north-eastern corner of Central America, south of Mexico and east of Guatemala, the country formerly known as British Honduras reached the comparatively dizzying heights of 172nd in the world pecking order and occupy 26th spot in their CONCACAF zone compared to Montserrat’s dead last of 35th. A draw against Nicaragua in this year’s Central American Cup was an impressive result.

Belize, who have never reached past the preliminary regional rounds of FIFA World Cup qualifying, even have a few professional players in their ranks. Veteran goalkeeper Shane Orio, a burly and mature net-minder, is currently No1 between the sticks at Honduran club giants CD Marathon. Two of Orio’s team-mates, both named Elroy (Kuylen and Smith) are also based in Honduras alongside Deon McCauley. The rest of the so-called Jaguars, led by colourful Honduran-born coach Jose de la Paz, are locally based amateurs and semi-pros, short on top-level experience, much like their intrepid opponents from Montserrat. “

This match will be few spectators, few reporters, and no TV cameras and the fact that if you won't go to Ato Boldon Stadium , you can't watch this match .

Yeah, it's almost like our situation (except we are better in terms of talent ;)) where we could do something good in qualifiers except that one thing is keeping them back and they could get suspended for it.

This is by far Mexico's finest hour/generation. They have talent to fill up everywhere.

But the problem is just mental fortitude. If the defenders can play a bit better, they are able of defeating most teams at their best. Javier is probably the best forward in the world when it comes to international games at the moment.

THE THIRD ROUND

Canada prepares for first match of World Cup qualifying

After US draw, Canada fit, confident ahead of Cuba trip

TORONTO, ON – Every single Canadian player and coach trained with a smile on their face on Tuesday morning.

Canada’s 0-0 draw against the United States on Sunday has done wonders for the team’s confidence in advance of the resumption of World Cup qualifying on Friday, when the Canucks take on Cuba in Havana (11 a.m. PT, Sportsnet).

Getting It Done

Occean scores winner for Canada despite going down to 10 men

HAVANA – Canada certainly didn’t make it easy on themselves, but they still managed to pick up a 1-0 win over Cuba on Friday to start their third round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Canadians took the advantage nine minutes into the second half on Olivier Occean’s headed goal from 10 yards out, but that joy was muted just 10 minutes later when goakeeper Lars Hirschfeld handled a ball outside his 18-yard box and was issued a straight red card.

Milan Borjan came in off the bench and kept Cuba off the board the rest of the way and, with Hirschfeld suspended for Canada’s next qualifier on June 12, he’ll likely get the start against Honduras.

Canada’s goal came with the hosts in the ascendency to start the second half. Cuba had troubled the Canadian goal a few times before David Edgar’s cross with the outside of his boot was headed home by Occean.

Hexagonal set: Costa Rica, Jamaica join USA & Mexico

And then there were six. With Tuesday's results in the books, the participants of CONCACAF's final round of 2014 World Cup qualifying — a.k.a. "The Hexagonal" — are set.

Joining the United States in the Hex are Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama. The US got the job done with a 3-1 win over Guatemala, who were leapfrogged by Jamaica after the Reggae Boyz' 4-1 victory over Antigua and Barbuda in Kingston.

Format

The fourth round will see the 3 group winners and 3 group runners-up from the third round compete in a single group of 6 teams. This stage is often referred to as the Hexagonal or Hex, and has been used by CONCACAF to determine its World Cup finals entrants since the qualification tournament for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

The matches are scheduled to be played from 6 February to 15 October 2013. The top three teams will advance to the World Cup finals tournament in Brazil, and the fourth-placed team will advance to a play-off against the winner of the Oceania qualifiers.
