Its not contradictionary - French security systems should be better as well but that does not excuse the Russian authorities approach (you can kick the shit out of people) to violent fans. Though considering what i have read from the Russian media, a fair number of those fvcks were sent packing and back to the motherland.

Again, Russian authorities are the only ones to be able to help in stopping the violent fans to come over the boarder but as far as i can understand the stance there has been that being violent is good. In order for these people to want to help, pressure must be applied.

And thats not contradicting that the police should do their job better, which they should.

Some solid trolling by Lebedev and Malosolov.

Most of the Russian government don't give a shit about controlling football hooligans, unless it's as a tool to still up nationalism as suits them.it's a sad state of affairs, but i'd bet there is more chance of Putin going full Stalin and dissolving the football team for failure than there is of any top-down organized effort to change current ultra\hooligan culture.

It'll be different on home soil as it would look bad for them not to be able to control things there, but could still be trouble in areas well away from the grounds.

They'll give a shit now they've had a €150,000 fine and told they'll be expelled if there is more trouble.

No it doesn't, the French police are underprepared and the Russian authorities should also be doing more to stop their firms travelling. That isn't an either/or scenario.

I think the common theme for their leadership is that while violence is bad, the violence of these fans was correct because a)they love their country, b)somebody said a bad word, c)the police was unable to stop them d)etc etc .

Its the overall feeling in that country that has been cultivated for the past 4-5 years and there is no selfcriticism on the matter whatsoever. If the French police would act against these hooligans with the same amount of violence youd have mr. Lavrov crying that the fans were treated bad. If nothing will be done about it, mr. Lavrov will say that its bad policing. If the fans are deported, as it is now, then the accusation is that Russia should have been notified. The endsituation here is that a certain country wants to start a fight here to demonstrate to its citizens that the West is their enemy and should be treated as such.

The blame game (nationality-wise) for hooligan violence is pointless.

Objectively, it's pretty obvious that no one side is entirely to blame. The English did this, the Russians did this, etc...blah blah blah.

The police and security forces are (understandably) stretched thin - the possibility of any large-scale terrorist attack certainly trumps a group of idiots knocking each other out. If you ask me, the hooligans (from all sides) get off on the attention and petty fear they create. FFS, I read somewhere that some of the hooligans came with mouth guards - if that doesn't tell you of their intentions from the get-go, I don't know what does.

There should be a zero-tolerance policy for any and all trouble-makers. The first offence should be met with a good beating (with mouth guard removed) and a ride home (paid for by their respective FA). It's a damn tragedy that families and normal folk don't feel safe attending these joyous events anymore. By the time the coffee shop revolutionaries start whining about human rights violations, the tourney will already be over and we'll have more than enough time to discuss the ethics and morality.

Sarajevo će biti, sve drugo će proći!

english fans humiliating lil kids...now this is violence of the greatest order..people like this don't deserve the air they breathe

as if it wasnt repulsive enough seeing dutch fans doing it with women in spain, not long ago, now we see that kind of behaviour spreading and going to a level that really, upsets me way more than a bunch of guys kicking eachothers asses
