[Group A] Colombia vs Costa Rica *Match Discussion*

Doesn't seem like a good match on paper, with an U23 squad facing a team that despite having most of its players in Europe, are having problems with confidence as their performances in the past 5 matches haven't met expectations (Hernan Gomez's expectations to be more specific). Following a below-par opening match yesterday, Colombia vs Costa Rica has the potential to be exciting (at least more than Argentina vs Bolivia). With Hugo Rodallega and Zapata sitting in the bench it seems that Colombia will be dependent on the sheer force of lone striker Radamel Falcao.

Colombia's Lineup:
Martínez; Zuniga, Perea, Yepes, Armero; Bolívar, Guarín, Aguilar, Dayro Moreno, Ramos; Falcao.

I don't have much information regarding Costa Rica's squad for today's match, I'm interested in seeing how they will perform, and whether these 2 teams could cause trouble to a messy Argentina (no pun intended) that were unconvincing yesterday.

The players in the Costa Rica squad, except for 4 players, are all under 23. I don't know non of the players as apparently they all play for Costa Rican clubs except for a player in paraguay and another in college in the US

Both Costa Rica and Mexico have basically sent more or less reserve teams since both also playing in the Gold Cup last month. They should've declined instead and allowed some competitive team to play in their place.

Joel Campbell 19 yo striker from Saprissa has been talked of quite well.

May well be worth keeping an eye out for him.

What a dud of a game so far. Didn't help that the Tico's are down to ten men. But poor quality all around.

The teams sent by Mexico and Costa Rica have nothing of "reserve" about them. They are both U23 squads with many players that will be involved in the 2 year long qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup, which means that this tournament is a valuable opportunity for both squads to start getting some real competitive football. Ridiculous was the initial invitation to Japan - it would be like UEFA inviting Australia to play in the Euros.

Kind of a shitty game. First the ref went completely mad and invented a red card and a few yellows just in case. Then you had Guarin who only wanted to shoot at the goal no matter where he was.

And Costa Rica really didnt give a shit about the result, best illustrated by their goalie spending quite some time tying up his shoelaces in extratime.
