Most of the qualifiers for this tournament are decided, only the winner of the Colombia playoff final and two participants from the InterLiga are TBD. The Colombian playoff final will be decided December 16 and 20 between Atlético Huila and Independiente Medellín. In the InterLiga (January 2-12) are América, Atlante, Tecos, and Santos Laguna in Group A and Jaguares, Monterrey, Puebla, and Tigres in Group B. Independiente Medellín have won the Colombian championship so will play in Group 1 with Corinthians, Cerro Porteño, and the winner of Junior and Racing Montevideo, meaning there is a possibility of two Colombian teams in the group. Just the last two Mexican spots to decide...

Juan Aurich - Estudiantes Tecos (1/27)
Colón - Universidad Católica (1/26)
Real Potosí - Cruzeiro (1/27)

Saw most of Potosí-Cruzeiro. Cruzeiro were pretty lucky to earn a point playing at altitude and playing 70 minutes or so with a man down thanks to Gilberto's idiocy. Should be no problem for them in Belo Horizonte, so Potosí will most likely be wishing they'd been more clinical, as they had a good number of shots, but could only manage a goal at the very end.

Also caught the last 20 minutes of Juan Aurich-Tecos, and I gotta say the Peruvians looked pretty good. Didn't realize Luis Tejada played for them, solid player. They can't take things for granted going to Guadalajara, but here's hoping they get through. They do have some interesting players upon further research, like Jhon Viafara and Reimond Manco, who is supposed to be the next big Peruvian talent, on loan from PSV.

As for the other games, didn't get a chance to watch. Universidad Católica did well to get two away goals, but still needs to be sure and focused at home. Good by Emelec to hold Newell's but they need to put their scoring boots on in Guayaquil. Didn't read anything about or really care about Táchira-Libertad, but looks like the Venezuelans have a slim lead going to Paraguay. Júnior-Racing Montevideo tomorrow, should be good for the Colombians.

Not the argentinian Racing, but a team from Uruguay...They had Junior on the ropes @ 2x1 until the 91st minute or so, thats when the colombians tied the game.

At any rate the uruguayans have the advantage for next week at home .

Libertad makes a big comeback and advances to the group stages. Were down 0-1 from the first leg and Táchira scored an away goal, but Libertad scored three to win the tie 3-2, will have a fairly easy group of Lanús, Universitario, and Blooming. Cruzeiro-Real Potosí and Tecos-Juan Aurich tomorrow, Racing-Junior on Thursday, the rest next week.

Cruzeiro cruises 7-0, told you it'd be easy. Playing with Vélez, Colo Colo, Deportivo Italia. Will be hard for Colo Colo and definitely Italia...

Juan Aurich beats Tecos 2-1 at home, very impressive for them to win both home and away against a Mexican team. That pitch was terrible though, giant puddles everywhere. They'll be in a group with Estudiantes, Bolívar, and Alianza Lima, if they can keep it up, they will be in the knockouts.

Racing 2-0 winners over Junior.

Junior clearly the better footballing side in this match, had the best player on the pitch by a mile in Gio Hernandez but just didn't click offensively and created hardly any clear chances.

Berbia the Junior goalkeeper gifted Racing's first goal, second goal breakaway counter right near the end.

Congrats to Racing. First time they ever qualify to the group stage in the Copa Lib.

Racing beats Atletico Junior 2-0

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP)—A double strike from Liber Quinones lifted Uruguay’s Racing into the group stage of the Copa Libertadores with a 2-0 home win over Colombia’s Atletico Junior on Thursday.

Quinones converted a penalty in the 12th minute and sealed the victory with a second score in the 88th to complete a 4-2 aggregate win.

The preliminary round concludes next week. On Tuesday, it’s Universidad Catolica vs. Colon de Santa Fe, and on Wednesday it’s Emelec vs. Newell’s Old Boys.

The Colo spoke too soon.

3-2 now Catolica.

They are favourites to go through now with Colon down to ten men.

Catolica go through on penalties.

Fully deserved. They were all over Colon in the last stages of the match and missed a penalty in the 90 minutes that would have put them through without needing the pens. Colon were hanging on by a thread at the end. Didn't matter in the end best team in this match-up go through in Catolica.

Great freekick by Toloza to make it 2-2 btw.
