At the World Cup '98 participated 32 teams with 32 coaches in their benches. Now,two years after, only three coaches are in the same bench including Chile's Nelson Acosta.Big names like Zagalo,Maldini,Clemente,Pasarela and many others changed benches but Acosta(as a result of his generally good work)is still here...

That is quite impressive. Acosta must have a contract that extends until after the forthcoming WC.

Acosta should have been sacked months ago! The only reason he still has a job, is because those Chilean youngsters, by the hand of Zamorano (arguably, the best Chilean player ever)won bronze in Sydney.

Acosta has done nothing but show poor coaching skills, and if they dont win this Nov 15th against Argentina in Santiago, there will be 2 out of 32 on your list SaZa.

PS - Its sad but Acosta will go daown as one of the greatest coaches in Chilean history.

Hurrah for Paquador!

I absolutely agree that Chile's performances in the Quals are bad and Acosta is one of the responsible for this. But we must admitt that he was the coach at one of the biggest events in the history of Chilean football:the WC98.

SAZA who are the other 2?

Yes Acosta has been lucky but we may still get there at the expense of Uruguay! It is a must win game and I'm sure we will win at home! A win against Argentina would also be very nice!

About Chiles performances in the Olympics, it was practically putting the Chilean national team vs U/23 teams!

I rather see Chile in the world cup than Uruguay.
