Colo isn t too soon for that? no intention for being arrogant but I want bad to see a Roman/Tevez in these with Masche to solidificate this team and then add Aimar, so I want to win again in great from because if not the axe is pending at the tiny little error over ythe head of Roman, so we need to trash you and won-t be easy, they will be too much pressure to repeat the Uruguay game...

Argentina refuse to underestimate struggling Chile

BUENOS AIRES, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Argentina are determined not to make the mistake of underestimating Chile, who they face in a World Cup qualifier in Santiago on Wednesday.

Despite having never lost to Chile in a World Cup qualifier, the twice world champions said on Monday they were still expecting a tough match against their out-of-form opponents.

"It will be a difficult match like all the World Cup qualifiers," midfielder Javier Zanetti said.

"Chile are very tough at home and we have to take care and play a great match."

Argentina are second in the 10-nation South American group with 18 points from nine games while Chile are fifth with 12.

The Chileans have not won in their last three qualifiers and have failed to score in their last two.

"Chile are the team who are under pressure to win," Argentina defender Gabriel Heinze added.

Embarrassment of riches for Argentina's Pekerman

In Santiago story headlined "Embarrassment of riches for Argentina's Pekerman" , please insert in Argentina line-up the dropped name of central midfielder Esteban Cambiasso between Javier Mascherano and Juan Roman Riquelme.

SANTIAGO, Oct 12 (Reuters) -

Argentina's 4-2 win over Uruguay has left coach Jose Pekerman spoiled for choice as he ponders the team to face Chile in Wednesday's World Cup qualifier.

His counterpart Juvenal Olmos, however, has no such luxury as he tries to conjure up a side from a squad that has been disrupted by injuries, suspensions and his own decision to ban playmaker David Pizarro for indiscipline.

Forward Carlos Tevez and midfielders Javier Mascherano and Andres D'Alessandro are all available again for Argentina after missing Saturday's game, Pekerman's first in charge, through suspension.

However, Argentina's excellent performance means none of them are guaranteed to regain their places.

Luciano Figueroa, who started because of Tevez's suspension and a late injury to Hernan Crespo, scored twice while Juan Roman Riquelme, who took D'Alessandro's place, was rated Argentina's outstanding player.

Esteban Cambiasso also had a good game after stepping in for Mascherano.

Pekerman has not announced his team but the Clarin newspaper speculated that Mascherano -- already an established international at the age of 20 -- will replace Luis Gonzalez while Tevez will win his place back from Figueroa.

Whoever plays, Argentina, second in the 10-nation South American group with 18 points from nine games, are hoping to repeat the flowing football which put them 3-0 up in only 45 minutes against Uruguay.

"If we play like we did in the first half against Uruguay, everyone will be happy," said Riquelme. "Football's a game and we all want to enjoy ourselves.

"Saturday was important because the public went home happy."

OWN MAKING

Chile are missing midfielder Mark Gonzalez, defender Moises Villaroel and striker Mauricio Pinilla through injury, while their other problems are of their own making.

Defensive midfielder Claudio Maldonado and left back Rodrigo Perez are serving the second game of bans they received for being sent off in the 0-0 draw against Colombia.

Pizarro, who plays for Udinese in Italy, has been left out for throwing a tantrum after being substituted in that game. He kicked an advertising board, stormed down the tunnel and then criticised Olmos in an interview after the game.

Chile, who have 12 points, dropped to fifth place after Sunday's 2-0 defeat in Ecuador and their campaign is in danger of grinding to a halt after a promising start.

They have failed to win in their last three qualifiers and have not scored in their last two. More worryingly, they have won only one out of four home games so far.

History is also against them as they have never beaten Argentina in seven previous meetings in World Cup qualifiers.

"It's not been easy to put together the team," said Olmos. "Our football is not so generous in terms of players.... For us, it's vital not to lose any more points at home."

Probable teams:

Chile - Nelson Tapia; Ricardo Rojas, Luis Fuentes, Rafael Olarra, Pablo Contreras; Fernando Martel, Juan Luis Gonzalez, Rodrigo Melendez, Rodrigo Valenzuela; Marcelo Salas, Patricio Galaz

Argentina - Roberto Abbondanzieri; Fabricio Coloccini, Walter Samuel, Gabriel Heinze; Javier Zanetti, Javier Mascherano, Esteban Cambiasso, Juan Roman Riquelme, Juan Pablo Sorin; Javier Saviola, Carlos Tevez

Referee: Carlos Amarilla (Paraguay)

Colo, I have been posting here for a while here and I can see you're a nice dude.

Now, Chile is a brave team and will put on a hard battle. They will not give up easily, but, anyway, PREPARE TO BE TRASHED!!!

Anyway, this will be a demonstration of what they will do to Venezuela.

Chile can win this one since it's in Santiago. Chileans hatred for Argentinians can't be hidden and I would not want to be in an Argentina shirt on that field. If the players can feel the vibrations of the fans, put the heart into the jersey, they can win it. If it is 0-0 in the first 15-20 minutes, I would put my money on the home team.

Still Madridista and apparently I have no honor

Scoreless draw and the show goes on... I hear trumpets blowing round here.
Not a bad game in my concept, at least they played something.

Are they finally deserving they place? Will Olmos stay? Is Pizarro that capital? Will Valdivia be the Mage? Will Luis Fuentes hit gold? Stay tuned! everything will be sorted out in the next chapter of the great Tricolor Soap Opera!

Chile's #22 Luis Fuentes (?) is a gem in the defensive line. I don't know who he plays for (club) nor his age but I'd love to see him play for my team. He's also responsible for shutting down Ronaldo a few months back I believe.

Hurrah for Paquador!

Good game by Chile. When will the idiot Bielsa II learn that Tevez needs to be starting for Arg NT to be sucessfull. This is exactly why most Arg NT supporters were hoping for Bianchi. Peckerman is a Bielsa mini me. I mean what other idiot would keep Tevez on the bench and start Luciano. Yes, Luciano scored two goals against Uruguay...but come. He is not half the player Tevez is.

You need to wait, look, argentina obviously will go to WC2006.
And, Pekerman, like all people say, worked with all the players, and i certain that he will make the best and most funcional lineup for the WC.
He is doing some experiences i think, and obviously he will put tevez in the 11...but a player like luciano, needs to get his chances, and for pekerman, put away a player that make 2 goals in the last game decrease a lot the motivation of the player...if tevez get injuried and you only have a no-confidence figueroa, will argentina supply tevez?
He did the correct thing in my opinion.

I don't think Mini Me did the right thing. You always play your best available players. Take a look at Brazil. In the Copa America and in Seria A, Adriano is on a tear. He has been unstoppable. But, the coach of Brazil had to make the choice between Adriano, Gaucho, Ronaldo and Kaka during the WC qualifiers. He can't play all four. He can only play three. Guess whom he choose. THE TOP THREE PLAYERS OUT OF THE 4. Ronaldo, Gaucho and Kaka. It's common sense: If you want to win, always play your best players.

Speaking about confidence: What does it do to Tevez's confidence when he lead Arg to Olympic gold and was a key part in the Copa America success and now is sitting behind Luciano?

Anyway you look at it, the fact remains the same: Tevez is better than Luciano and Tevez have earned the right to start.
