Hello, I am new on this forum, and my english is not very good, but I will try to write something.

I think Argentina will win 2:0, goals Crespo and Delgado.
Killy, Mascherano, Tevez, D`alessandro are all suspended, while Ayala is injured, so Bielsa may try something like this

------------------------------- Abbondanzieri

-------- Coloccini ----------------Samuel --------------------Heinze

-------- Zanetti ----------------- Lucho -------------------- Sorin

--------------------------------- Aimar

--------- Rosales ---------------- Crespo ------------------ Delgado

but for me the better idea will be

------------------------------- Abbondanzieri

Zanetti -------- Samuel ---------------Heinze------------ Sorin

--------------------------------- Veron

--------------------- Lucho ----------------- Aimar

------ Rosales ---------------- Crespo ------------------ Delgado

PS. Colocolo - great job

Welcome to the forums, MARCIN74.

I really like your ideal team, but i will place macherano instead of Verón and Tevez instead of Crespo.
Both, Veron and Crespo, have been playing in a very low level in the last seasons, even though we all know they have the skills to be between the best of the world in their position.
But as long as Tevez and Mascherano keep performing as they have been doing it lately, they deserve to be in the first eleven.

It is not my ideal team, I was thinking about game against Uruguay. :smileani: My ideal team is diffrent and soon I will write something about this. About Mascherano and Tevez You are right, but as I said both are suspended. Probably in the squad will be three defenders, but I think that system 4-1-2-3 is much better for Argentina. In my opinion Crespo should replace Tevez. Who else can replace Tevez in this game? Saviola? Figueroa? Diego Milito? I don`t think so. Maybe Cavenaghi could be, but it looks like Bielsa don`t like this player much. I believe that Veron did not say his last word and soon he will show that is good enough to play in NT.

2-0?
Don't think so. Don't underestimate your opponents. It's not wise. Specially if it's a classic one.

Argentina name Pekerman as new coach to replace Bielsa

BUENOS AIRES, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Argentina named triple World Youth Cup winner Jose Pekerman as their new national team coach on Thursday, 48 hours after the shock resignation of Marcelo Bielsa.

"We wish him all the best, we know who he is, he has a great track record and personally I'm very happy he's back with us," said Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Julio Grondona.

Pekerman, 55, was in charge of Argentina's under-20 team from 1994 to 2002 and won the World Youth Cup in 1995, 1997 and 2001.

Bielsa, who led Argentina to their first Olympic soccer gold medal in August, left on Tuesday, saying he had run out of energy after six years in the high-pressure job.

It will be interesting to see what guys our new coach will call up for the game, especially since Tevez, D'Alessandro, Mascherano and Kily Gonzales are all suspended for the next match and Ayala is injured.

Aimar is injured now too and he will be out maybe for up to 3 weeks. So it's safe to assume that he will miss the next WCQ-matches. :depress:

Fernando Cavenaghi hopes to win a call-up to the Argentina national team.

The Spartak Moscow ace hopes the appointment of Jose Pekerman will increase his chances of breaking into the national set-up.

"With the new coach in the national team I have new expectations. I hope that Pekerman remembers me from when I played for the national youth team," said Cavenaghi.

"Bielsa had chosen other players, he preferred Hernan Crespo but I don't have anything to say about that. I can't make any criticisms on Bielsa, he did a great job".

Cavenaghi is enjoying life in Russia after his summer move from River Plate

"It's a great league. There are many competitive teams," added Cavenaghi.

"It's true that I am very far from Argentina, it's not the same to play in Russia than in Europe but I think that I have the same chances as other players for being called to the national team".

Recoba, unsuitable for altitude, out of Uruguay squad

MONTEVIDEO, Oct 3 (Reuters)

- Uruguay have dropped Alvaro Recoba from their squad for next week's World Cup qualifier in Bolivia because they do not think the Inter Milan player is fit for a game at high altitude.

"(Coach Jorge) Fossati considered that Recoba is not the most suitable to play in the high altitude of La Paz," a spokesman for the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) said.

Recoba, who was jeered by supporters during a training match in Montevideo before the World Cup qualifier at home to Ecuador last month, will also miss next weekend's game away to neighbours Argentina because of suspension.

He picked up a second yellow card in the 1-0 win over Ecuador.

Problems have mounted for Fossati ahead of the two games.

Central defender and captain Paolo Montero has been ruled out because of an Achilles' tendon injury while his fellow defenders Dario Rodriguez and Alejandro Lembo are both short of match practice.

The pair are in the reserves at Germany's Schalke 04 and Spain's Real Betis respectively.

Uruguay, seventh in the 10-nation South American qualifying group with 10 points from eight games, face Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday and Bolivia, at 3,600 metres above sea level in La Paz, the following Tuesday.

Fossati has named a 28-man squad for the two games:

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Fabian Carini (Inter Milan, Italy), Sebastian Viera (Nacional), Sergio Navarro (Plaza Colonia)

Defenders: Dario Rodriguez (Schalke 04, Germany), Alejandro Lembo (Real Betis, Spain), Carlos Valdez (Nacional), Joe Bizera (Penarol), Guillermo Rodriguez (Danubio), Alejandro Lago (Fenix)

Midfielders: Gustavo Varela (Schalke 04, Germany), Marcelo Sosa (Atletico Madrid, Spain), Pablo Garcia (Osasuna, Spain), Diego Perez (Monaco, France), Javier Delgado (Saturn Ramenskoye, Russia), Juan Martin Parodi (Panionios, Greece), Mario Regueiro (Racing Santander, Spain), Carlos Diogo (Penarol), Cristian Rodriguez (Penarol), Gonzalo Castro (Nacional), Omar Pouso (Danubio)

Forwards: Vicente Sanchez (Toluca/Diablos, Mexico), Javier Chevanton (Monaco, France), Richard Morales (Osasuna, Spain), Dario Silva (Sevilla, Spain), Diego Forlan (Villarreal, Spain), Diego Perrone (Danubio), Fabian Estoyanoff (Fenix), Carlos Bueno (Penarol)

Keeper Abbondanzieri keeps his place in Argentina squad

By Luis Ampuero

BUENOS AIRES, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Argentina's new coach Jose Pekerman kept faith with goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri as he completed his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Chile.

Abbondanzieri was among four locally based players selected following the weekend's domestic programme, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said.

Abbondanzieri made his international debut aged 31 in June's qualifier with Paraguay and has retained his place despite some unconvincing performances.

There were no major surprises as Pekerman, in charge following the shock resignation of Marcelo Bielsa last month, called up Boca Juniors forward Carlos Tevez and River Plate midfield duo Luis Gonzalez and Javier Mascherano.

Tevez and Mascherano, both 20, and 23-year-old Gonzalez have established themselves as international-class players this year.

Pekerman, who coached Argentina's under-20 team to three world titles between 1994 and 2002, makes his debut in Saturday's game in Buenos Aires against neighbours Uruguay.

Argentina, second in the 10-nation South American World Cup qualifying group with 15 points from eight games, then travel to Santiago to face Chile on October 13.

Pekerman has recalled Monaco forward Javier Saviola, often overlooked by Bielsa, and brought back Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Leonardo Franco (Atletico Madrid, Spain), Roberto Abbondanzieri (Boca Juniors).

Defenders: Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United, England), Walter Samuel (Real Madrid, Spain), Fabricio Coloccini (AC Milan, Italy), Gonzalo Rodriguez (Villarreal, Spain), Diego Placente (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany), Facundo Quiroga (Wolfsburg, Germany).

Midfielders: Javier Zanetti (Inter Milan, Italy), Esteban Cambiasso (Inter Milan, Italy), Juan Pablo Sorin (Cruzeiro, Brazil), Juan Riquelme (Villarreal, Spain), Lionel Scaloni (Deportivo Coruna, Spain), Luis Gonzalez (River Plate), Javier Mascherano (River Plate), Maximiliano Rodriguez (Espanyol, Spain), Andres D'Alessandro (Wolfsburg, Germany).

Forwards: Carlos Tevez (Boca Juniors), Javier Saviola (Monaco), Mauro Rosales (Ajax Amsterdam, Netherlands), Luciano Figueroa (Cruz Azul/Cementeros, Mexico), Hernan Crespo (AC Milan, Italy)

Pekerman gives us freedom to play, say Argentina trio

By Luis Ampuero

BUENOS AIRES, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Argentina's players appear to be getting more freedom to perform under new coach Jose Pekerman than they did during the six-year reign of his predecessor Marcelo Bielsa.

Pekerman takes charge for the first time in Saturday's World Cup qualifier at home to Uruguay and next Wednesday's match in Chile.

"Pekerman's game is more Argentine and less European," striker Carlos Tevez, 20, said on Wednesday.

"Pekerman gives you the confidence and freedom to play," added the Boca Juniors player, who is considered the most exciting of his country's new generation.

Bielsa, who surprisingly resigned last month with his side playing some of the best football since he took over, was occasionally criticised for stifling their freedom of expression, a traditional part of the Argentine game.

Pekerman, who coached the under-20s for eight years and won three World Youth Championships, is renowned for a more open approach.

Tevez was given his international debut earlier this year and many felt Bielsa waited too long before introducing a player who flourished as an 18-year-old.

Midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme, who only managed a brief look-in under Bielsa, also appeared to be enjoying new-found freedom.

"He (Pekerman) is going to try and do the same as he did with the youth teams, trying to make sure that we enjoy ourselves and, above all, thinking about winning," said Riquelme.

Monaco forward Javier Saviola, controversially overlooked during most of Bielsa's reign, agreed with his two team mates.

"Pekerman lets the players play a little more freely and this maybe benefits some more than others," he said.

"I learned to mark more with Bielsa...and Jose gives me more freedom."

Carrasco In Spectacular Fix Claim :irritate:

07/10/04

Former Uruguay manager Juan Ramon Carrasco has asserted that the national team had a 2001 CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying 1-1 result arranged with Argentina in advance.
"The result was arranged by both teams before the match because Argentina had already qualified and Uruguay needed a point to reach the playoffs,” he claims. "Thanks to that result Uruguay played off against Australia and reached the 2002 World Cup finals.”

"Everybody in Uruguay knows this,” said Carrasco. “Maybe in Argentina they say they do not know anything, but I am sure they do."

What a phuckinn cry baby. He can't get over that the fact he was fired, and no else has offered him a position since.

The phuckin asshole always talks about he loves the NT, and how it's so bad the way things have gone now.

Well if he really feels that way why would he say something so ludicrous, right before this upcoming game. Doesn't he know that will only ruin team chemistry, and hurt our chances of winning.
