Bolivia coach angered as players leave for Polish trial

LA PAZ, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Bolivia coach Ramiro Blacut was angry after two young players left a national team training camp to take part in a trial with Polish first division club Wisla Krakow.

Defender Sergio Jauregui, 20, and striker Juan Carlos Arce, 19, left the camp on the outskirts of La Paz after being invited to try their luck in eastern Europe.

"They are young players who are looking for fame and fortune," Luis Galarza, a member of the coaching staff, told reporters.

"I hope everything goes well for them but their departure has annoyed coach Ramiro Blacut."

Bolivia later said defender Ronald Raldes and striker Pablo Salinas had been called up as replacements.

Bolivia, bottom of the 10-nation South American World Cup qualifying group with six points from eight games, face two home matches in four days.

They take on Peru in La Paz on Saturday and Uruguay at the same venue, at 3,600 metres above sea level, on Tuesday.

Revised squad:

Goalkeepers: Leo Fernandez (Oriente Petrolero), Jose Carlos Fernandez (Santa Fe, Colombia), Sergio Galarza (Wilstermann)

Defenders: Ronald Arana (Oriente Petrolero), Lorgio Alvarez (Oriente Petrolero), Juan Manuel Pena (Villarreal, Spain), Ronald Raldes (Rosario Central, Argentina), Marcelo Carballo (The Strongest), Percy Colque (Bolivar), Luis Gatty Ribeiro (Bolivar), Oscar Sanchez (Bolivar), Ronald Raldes (Bolivar), Gualberto Mojica (Blooming)

Midfielders: Erwin Sanchez (Oriente Petrolero), Luis Cristaldo (The Strongest), Gonzalo Galindo (Bolivar), Limberg Gutierrez (Bolivar), Limbert Pizarro (Bolivar), Ruben Tufino (Bolivar), Walter Flores (San Jose)

Forwards: Pablo Salinas (Blooming), Joaquin Botero (UNAM/Pumas, Mexico), Diego Cabrera (The Strongest)

Pizarro recalled to Peru squad

LIMA, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Striker Claudio Pizarro has been recalled to the Peru squad for the first time since suffering a head injury during the Copa America last July.

The Bayern Munich forward is set to return in Saturday's World Cup qualifier away to Bolivia as Peru try to make up lost ground after their 3-1 home defeat to Argentina last month.

Peru, attempting to qualify for their first World Cup since 1982, then travel to Paraguay for another qualifier on October 13.

Pizarro underwent surgery for his injury after complaining of nausea and dizziness following the 3-1 win over Venezuela on July 9. Peru, who hosted the Copa America, were knocked out by Argentina in the quarter-finals.

Coach Paulo Autuori, who has refused to talk to the local media since the start of the Copa, brought in three uncapped players; striker Paolo Guerrero, who plays for Bayern, and locally-based Juan Manuel Vargas and Juan Cominges.

Peru are eighth in the 10-nation South American qualifying group with nine points from eight games.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Oscar Ibanez (Cienciano), Leao Butron (Alianza Lima)

Defenders: Jorge Soto (Sporting Cristal), Guillermo Salas (Alianza Lima), Juan Manuel Vargas (Universitario), Walter Vilchez (Alianza Lima), John Galliquio (Universitario), Santiago Acasiete (Almeria, Spain), Miguel Rebosio (Almeria, Spain), Alberto Rodriguez (Sporting Cristal)

Midfielders: Juan Carlos la Rosa (Cienciano), Juan Jayo (Alianza Lima), Luis Alberto Hernandez (Coronel Bolognesi), Marko Ciurlizza (Alianza Lima), Nolberto Solano (Aston Villa, England), Julio Cesar Garcia (Morelia/Monarcas, Mexico), Roberto Palacios (Deportivo Cali, Colombia), Juan Cominges (Sporting Cristal)

Forwards: Jefferson Farfan (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Paolo Guerrero (Bayern Munich, Germany), Claudio Pizarro (Bayern Munich, Germany), Andres Mendoza (Metallurg Donetsk (Ukraine)

Pizarro won't play against Bolivia after a new injury. Solano also out from yellow cards.

Germán Carty from Cienciano was called to replace him. Now, this guy is very old and quite clumsy; but probably the best peruvian striker at the moment. I'm sure he will play at some point and he's used to altitude as he plays in Cusco.

I'd like Perú to look like this:

--------------------Ibañez
---Galliquio-----Rebosio-----Acasiete-----Vargas

----------------Jayo----Ciurlizza

------Soto--------------------Cominges

----------Farfán------Carty

Bolivia President intervenes to end players' protest

By Mario Roque

LA PAZ, Oct 8 (Reuters) -

The President of Bolivia, Carlos Mesa, intervened on Friday to end a threat by the national soccer team to abandon their training camp on the eve of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Peru.

Mesa met the players' demands when he promised that his government would implement a law similar to the Bosman ruling in Europe which would make all out-of-contract players free agents.

The squad had threatened to walk out of their camp on Friday and there were reports that might even boycott Saturday's game against Peru if their demands were not met.

"(The rule) which makes players free agents when they were out of contract will come into effect on January 1, 2006," said Mesa during a visit to the training camp at Mallasa on the outskirts of La Paz.

"Today (Friday), we've approved a decree...and this will end the slavery in which the players live."

Bolivia captain Erwin Sanchez welcomed the announcement. "We are taking a big step towards protecting the Bolivian players and strengthening our institutions," he said.

Bolivia, bottom of the 10-nation South American World Cup qualifying group with six points from eight games, also face Uruguay in La Paz on Tuesday. They need to win both games to revive their hopes of qualifying for their first World Cup since 1994.

"There will not be any problems on Saturday or Tuesday," said Bolivia Football Federation (FBF) president Walter Castedo. "Bolivia will play against Peru and Uruguay. It's all been overcome."

But the clubs, who have fiercely opposed the players' demands, were furious.

"This is a sick joke," said Victor Hugo Lopez, president of Wilstermann. "The new law is badly drawn up and maybe we will have trouble in the future with FIFA."

Player strikes have become common recently in South America, where players often complain about working conditions. In the last three years, national strikes have halted the championships in Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Chile.

Disputes have also hit individual clubs all over the region, with players refusing to train, stay in hotels on the eve of games and occasionally refusing to play matches.

First half over. 0-0.
Very poor display by Perú so far, playing with:

-----------Ibañez

----Galliquio---Acasiete---Rodriguez---Salas

-----Soto----Jayo---Ciurlizza----García

----------Farán------Guerrero

My bets are Carty and Palacios for the second half.

Galliqui and Acacsiete have been booked, and Rebosio got injured before the game, that's why Rodriguez is there (playing very good).

Cominges also could enter.
Farfán has been Perú's best player by far.

Well... SHAME... I've never seen Perú play this poor. A team that is not able able to make two correct passes in a row shouldn't even be allowed to compete in World Cup qualy.

We are major shit right now, Bolivia is a piss poor team and beat us walking.

Time for REESTRUCTURATION of peruvian football, as soon as possible.
