Olimpia One of the most historical and succesful teams of the Libertadores. Has gotten some very good reinforcements for this year campaign. They are as usual a contender to win it all.
Patricio Camps Argie striker who played in Europe and Mexico
Martin del Campo Solid Uruguayan right back
Julio Cesar Caceres Paraguayan NT central defender

Rosario Central The always tough team from the "giant of arroyito" is once again in the tournament. With a limited team they did an excellent job. the departure of Ezequiel Gonzalez hurts.

Olimpia 0 - Rosario Central 2

Great victory for the "canallas". Great performance by Belloso and "vitamina" Sanchez. German Herrera may have scored a great goal.

Bad week for the Paraguayans.

we won 4-1

curitiba scored first on the 18th minute and thoughts of humiliation sprung to mind but sporting reacted

led by soto who put us levelled
then bonnet put us ahead 4 minutes later
in the second half bonnet and junior scored to make the final score
4-1

Tremendous victory by the Peruvians.

4-1 was completely deserved and this was the best game I have ever seen Jorge Soto play.

Two teams that lost in their first game. Another defeat in this game and either coach might be on the way out.

Coritiba will line up their new signing Igor in midfield. They need him to produce because it was very limited the production of their midfield in their defeat to Cristal. Tuta has been dropped from the Libertadores squad while Aristizabal is still not recuprerated from arthrostopic surgery. Look for Pepo to take Robetrto Brum's spot on the line up due to suspension.

Olimpia will have to improve trememdously from the game against Rosario Central. Mauro Caballero will pair up with Uruguayan Lopez up front.

Final score 1-1

They didn't do each other any favors with this score. especially Coritiba. Losing points at home is a sure way to lose any chances of advancing.

Final

Rosario Central 1 - Sporting Cristal 1

A very defensive game by the Peruvians almost paid off, but a last second goal by Mesera saved the "canallas".

A valuable for the peruvians.

It was a valuable point to get, but Cristal should have won...

Sporting Cristal vs Olimpia

03/09/04 - Lima Peru - 9PM local time

Cristal is on a high after getting a draw in Argentina vs Central. But now they will face a very tough Olimpia who is trying bounce and keep pace. But it seems difficult after the poor dysplay shown in the hammering they got over the weekend vs Libertad (4 - 1)

Cristal rested over the weekend its starters for this game thus lost to Alianza Atletico 1 - 0.

OLIMPIA: Danilo Aceval, Martín del Campo, Walter Fretes, Nelson Zelaya, Arturo Aquino, Francisco Esteche, Víctor Quintana, Patricio Camps, Sergio Orteman, Mauro Caballero y Hernán Rodrigo López.

CRISTAL: Gustavo Roverano, Amilton Prado, Miguel Villalta, Alberto Rodriguez, José Moisella, Nolberto Araujo, Carlos Zegarra, Juan Cominges, Henry Quinteros, Luis Alberto Bonett y Sergio Junior.

FINAL

Sporting Cristal 3 - Olimpia 2

The Peruvians were the deserved winners. The first half was all Olimpia, but in the 2nd half Cristal was great during a 12 minute period they scored 3 goals.

I went to the stadium for thsi game and all I can say is that we're loking very good.
Cominges is the perfect sub for Soto, Sergio Junior is also a great sub. Orejuela makes the defenders tired, then S.J. outpaces them very easily.
Our only problem seem to be that our two fullbacks (Prado and Moisella) can't mark anyone.
