Brasil vs Uruguay

Uruguay is the team the Brasilians hate to play against. If Brasil hates to play Uruguay the Uruguayans love it. but this time around this is the same old Brasil but facing a different Uruguay. let's see if carrasco keeps its attacking mentality for this one.

Carrasco will be using the 4-3-1-2 formation...

Recoba's still in doubt for starting the game...

I heard on TV news that we'll play Brasil as any match till now, with 3 forwards!!
This can be a great victory or a great lose, we'll see...

Recoba won't be a starter (slightly injured), neither Chevanton neither Richard Nuñez. I have a big '?' in my brain now.
Zalayeta will be a starter.

Without the benefit of alot of footage, Uruguay seem to me to be pretty impressive at the moment.

They just never give up. I hope that they qualify directly, I would not want the Socceroos to have to face them again!

First half Brazil dominated - They could have killed the game there because in the middle Uruguay gave so much space. Kaka and Cafu are killing them. Gilberto Silva was solid, Rivaldo playing well and Ronaldo hunger. But Lucio was totally out of game, he was the greatest danger brasil had to face.
2-0 - Kaka and Ronaldo Scored.

Second half, Carrasco, dauting, interesting coach- he put his team attacking brazil, bring Chevanton and Recoba in the field and Brazil slowed down, returned to the defense to use the advantage, the attack was abandoned and Uruguay found space. One goal after another, brazil got desperate and Parreira started this when he take out the best player of team, Kaka.
When the result was 3-2 Brazil attacked, in a impulse to draw - Alex, Luis Fabiano and Juninho (but somehow Ze Roberto until the end) and Ronaldo found the saving goal.

Forlan scored twice for Uruguay and Gilberto did a own goal.

This was definitively the best game of the qualifiers. Uruguay is playing well but not necesarily that well. I just think that Brasil is not that much better. Uruguay showed a lot of character, but more importanly took advantage of a somewhat suspedct Brasilian defense. Not to mentioned that Brasil wasted their chances in the first half.

In defense of Ze roberto, he set up Brasil 3rd goal.

Second goal, the long ball to Ronaldo
If you have patience, Gabemar, Garrincha and I are wasting for sometime a debate about the "Ze Roberto Question", just check out in the brazilian forum sometimes.

Everyone talks about how Brasil's defence broke down, and why thats why we were able to score goals.

But Brasil's goals were scored on our defence breaking down too.

The first came from a cross that Munua should have come out for, and was put in by our defender not Kaka.

The second there was 3 Uruguayin defenders back, but none of them thought about covering the only Brasilian forward near them RONALDO. Watching that replay made me want to

Luckly other opportunities were Brasil did deserve to score, didn't go in. Especially Ronaldo's header at the end

Soy Celeste, Soy Celeste,
Celeste soy yo!

This was a brilliant game. I'm surprised Forlan hit the target..TWICE!!, here in England we make so much fun of him. Wish it stayed 3-2 to Uruguay though...would have made it easier for Argentina!!
