Official Thread: Venezuela vs Argentina

Venezuela actually played well against Ecuador. They certainly look much better than at the beginning of the previous WCQs.

Unfortunately for them Argentina is with blood in their eyes. They are coming with everything they got. Argentina was cruising against Chile but lost concentration and befor they knew they were in a dog fight. I think this time that's not going to happen. Despite playing in the swealtering heat of Maracaibo.

Veron is full of confidence, he said that Argentina is coming to win and that they are going to win despite Venezuela's improved play.

This is not the same Venezuela that we beat by 4-0 away and by 5-0 at home last time around. Venezuela has dramatically improved and thsi was evident towrds the end of the last qualifiers. Still I expect a positive result..I expect us to win..

I Read On Soccerage That Veron was Booed By The fans in The Monumental, and there was a banner that read "Veron is English", why all the criticism????

Argentina dismantled Venezuela with a great 1st half performance by the whole team.

Aimar, Crespo and Delgado scored for the Argies.

As far as Veron is concerned, people in Argentina blame him and Bielsa for the dismal performance in the WC 2002.

You could say that the whole did not meet the Argies expectations. But Veron was considered the best player of the team and one of the best of the world at his position. His performance was nowhere near the level of the WCQs, so that's why Argies can't forget and forgive at least until Argentina is considered again the best in the World like it was before the WC.

As I said in the Argentina thread:

Ouch!

But anyone who really watched the game could see that Venezuala is playing much better than what the final score suggest. We just couldn't beat those monsters. One day we will, God willing. There is still a long way left and I'm pretty sure that we're going to qualify to this one. We had even a great chance to score in the very first action of the game! Accept it: The game was not an easy one.

I'm happy for Argentina, though.

I compare the way Argies fans blame Veron the way, the same way Inter fans blame Recoba.

The find a scapegoat & not address the real problem.

Yeah, the real problem being Bielsa and his idiotic managerial style/formations I'm not a big fan of Veron either
