Closer to Sporting (Allsport)
06/08/2003. Gabriele Oriali, an Inter Milan representative, is in Lisbon today to close out some "minor details" in the deal that will make Carlos Gamarra property of Sporting.

Gamarra told the Portuguese media that he is excited about playing in Portugal and working with manager Fernando Santos. It is rumored that Gamarra has asked to be transferred to Sporting Lisbon and not loaned.

Oriali is in Lisbon with the purpose of working out a deal by the end of the day.

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

Inter Want Quaresma For Gamarra

Sporting want to keep Quaresma (Getty Images)
06/10/2003. The negotiations to bring Carlos Gamarra to Sporting Lisbon have reportedly hit a snag.

Inter Milan have asked for promising winger Ricardo Quaresma in exchange for Carlos Gamarra and cash. Sporting are not interested in parting with Quaresma in a part-exchange deal and has asked Inter Milan to negotiate a price solely for the Paraguayan defender.

It has been reported that Gamarra and Sporting have reached a tentative deal while Gamarra was training in Portugal for an International friendly.

Inter enquired about Quaresma in December and are very interested in bringing the youngster to Italy.
