What's your team of the tournament?

Sneaking this in before the final, could of course change after.

-----------------------Lloris---------------------------
Trippier------Lovren----Varane----Laxalt
--------Pogba-------Kante-----Rakitic--------------
------Mbappe------Cavani-----Hazard-----------

Pretty confident about all picks, feel a bit harsh leaving Modric out, but Rakitic has the advantage of being ice cold in two penalty shootout winning situations in his favour.

Edit - Honourable mentions and squad positions to Pickford, Courtois, Fernandes, Godin, Stones, Henderson, Modric, Vrsaljko, Lukaku, Alderweireld, Casemiro, Herrera and Inui

Griezmann and Modric have to be in there, m8.
Ante and Morierinho like this.

Would you sub Rakitic our for Modric? I was going back and forth between them.

I think Hazard has been better than Griezmann.

Vrsaljko over Trippier

Modric = football. He might have not been very brilliant but the way he plays always reminds me football is first of all technique then maybe a a bodybuilding constest.

Yeah forgot about him, I think I’d put him on the bench.

Subasic should at least be bench. Croatia won 2 pen shootouts. So he played huge part in Croatia reaching final.

Modric should start.

And lack of russians in the honourables.

Im 50:50 on Cavani. Cause he did get injured after first round and therefore didnt really influence the tournament from there onwards.
Ante and shiaben like this.

Modric has to be in tbh.

I'd take Pogba out.

Very hard when they play few games and not the same number of games. A few not mentioned are Schmeichel, Caceres, Thiago Silva, Vecino, KDB.. and Mandzukic tbh.

Not bigotting

When you break it down though, he's not had a good tournament.

Strange as it may sound.

Kane, Mina, Trippier, Hazard, Cheryshev, and Rakitic came close to starting for me. Maybe Kane's had a better tournament overall than Cavani, but Cavani was injured for that deciding game against the favourites to win this thing, and those two goals he scored the match before... that ****ing header.. I can't not start him

Also because of my formation and other choices, difficult to include both Griezmann and Hazard.. so I went with DE GREAZIEST but it's true Hazard played phenomenally for much of the tournament despite not being directly involved in knockout goals beside an assist vs Japan. He probably deserves a place.

You have a point, but then Lukaku didn't play against England and had a bad game v France. Cavani didn't play France or SF and had a few uneventfull games in the group stages... Come to think of it, maybe Neymar should be in the mix.

Mbappe if France win, they’ll likely go with Modric if Croatia do.

Yeah it's odd. No striker has stood out.

Like Villa, Klose, Ronaldo etc have in recent WCs.
