Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they are looking to sign Australian wonderkid Ivan Ergic from Perth Glory, and will challenge the already interested parties of Juventus and Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin for his signature.
Ergic, who has a year left on his current Perth deal but is expected to move to Europe before joining up with the Australian squad for September's Olympics.
Hertha Berlin, Juventus, Leeds United and Feyenoord have also been linked with the versatile 19-year-old midfielder or striker, but Borussia manager Michael Zorc said: "We are working on a transfer."
Borussia coach Matthias Sammer has already held talks with Perth's German coach Bernd Strange and has apparently received a glowing report.
Ergic himself has not made his mind up as to where his future lies, and is expected to travel to Europe in the next month to talk to his chasers and view their set-ups.
Juventus' offer to Ergic would reportedly see him loaned out to Austria for the first year of his contract, which could dissuade the player from moving to Serie A in favour of either the Bundesliga or the Premiership.
