Troubled former European Cup winners Borussia Dortmund sacked their coach Bernd
Krauss on Thursday and turned to veteran Udo Lattek, one of Germany's most successful coaches. After a string of poor results have left them just above the relegation zone, Dortmund said they would appoint veteran
Lattek, who guided Bayern Munich through their glory days in the 1970s, until the end of the season.
Lattek, 65, had yet to agree officially, however, Dortmund said.
In the meantime co-trainer Uwe Neuhaus will take charge while former German international libero Matthias Sammer will
assume the role of technical adviser.
Krauss was appointed on February 6,replacing Michael Skibbe, but Dortmund failed to win any of their 11 Bundesliga matches and two UEFA Cup matches during his tenure.
After six successive defeats, the club are just above the relegation zone. The 1997 European Cup winners have won only one
game out of the last 21.
