[CL - matchday 5] Arsenal vs BVB

Starting lineup, confirmed:

Weidenfeller
Piszczek - Subotic - Ginter - Schmelzer
Gundogan - Bender
Mkhitaryan - Aubameyang - Grosskreutz
Immobile

Bench: Langerak, Hornschuh, Durm, Kehl, Jojic, Kagawa, Ramos

Interesting lineup from Klopp. Immobile re-instated as the striker with Aubameyang playing behind him instead of Kagawa who deservedly gets dropped for his recent poor form and finally we'll see that CM pairing again in action after some time. Ginter, Schmelzer, and Grosskreutz all in at the same time worries me a lot though, especially because Chamberlain and Sanchez will likely drift wide on that side.

Only a point is needed to win the group tonight, hopefully the team takes advantage of Arsenal's problems at the moment and gets it over with so that attention can completely shift solely on the Bundesliga for the next 3 months.

Arsenal 2:0 Dortmund

Very disappointing performance tonight on both ends. Ciro, Heno, and Aubameyang were all wasteful on the counter attacks while defensively the team was all over the place. I don't like Ginter at all as a CB, he is just too mistake prone and lightweight for that position. Schmelzer and Grosskreutz together unsurprisingly killed our left side, they did absolutely nothing of note there and it really is puzzling as to how KG keeps getting so many minutes when he is contributing next to nothing offensively nowadays. He should be a last resort option on the wings, his best position is clearly at RB now.

Only positives lately are that Piszczek and Gundogan are starting to show signs of their old form, hopefully they keep building their rhythm from here. Anyways the H2H record against Arsenal is now level but our GD is far superior to theirs (+10 to +4) so even a point at home to Anderlecht will be enough to win the group realistically. Shame not to have got it done here, but it is what it is. On to Frankfurt at the weekend.
