Nuri Sahin and PEA are not risked in tonights match against Dresden cautionary. As expected Klopp is rotating a bit more, so hopefully Ramos/Immobile are able to gain some confidence out of tonights match.

I think the team should focus on winning the DFB Pokal, I know they can do it and it would nice to finally win a trophy again. Also it would mean automatic qualification for the Europa League. Obviously, Dresden comes first and they must not be underestimated even though they are in the third division.

Starting lineup, confirmed:

Langerak
Kirch - Subotic - Hummels - Schmelzer
Gundogan - Kehl
Blaszcykowski - Kagawa - Reus
Immobile

Bench: Weidenfeller, Sokratis, Dudziak, Bender, Mkhitaryan, Kampl, Ramos

Not sure I really like the lineup, Klopp could have rotated more here. Yes, the Pokal is a competition the team needs to take seriously but this is a game against a mid-table team in the 3. Liga that has only won once in the last 2-3 months. Surely he could have rotated some more and let players like Gundogan, Schmelzer, and Reus get some rest too as they've played a lot lately.

Also, not sure what's up with Jojic, not even in the squad tonight and hasn't been for awhile now. Wonder if Klopp has given up on him and he'll be departing the club in the summer.

a win, nothing more and you could really not expect a fluid passing game on that pitch. nice assist from Hefele to Ciro's first goal, though
Schmelzer and Kirch are just way too limited for the RB and LB position and are not really able to make a solid cross.

Gündogan again had a good game with Immobile scoring twice.

The Dresden supporters were fantastic, really nice to see how strong of a fan base they have even as a 3. Liga club.

Not a good performance at all, but job done. Good to see Ciro scoring twice on the only chances he had in the game, he's a good finisher in my opinion but the team doesn't play to his strengths or provide him enough service to be more impactful on matches which is why he hasn't been as successful so far, especially in the league. Kuba looked pretty good for a guy making his first start in 14 months too, bagging an assist as well. He'll be a crucial addition to the team for the remainder of the season if he can stay fit.

Draw for the next round is on Sunday, just hope we avoid the big guns or at least not pull them out in an away tie.

Mitch is looking way more confident and calm in the goal than Weidenfeller and for me personally it is the right time to make that permanent switch.
