crunchtime tonight! we urgently need a win vs Mainz in order to close the gap to teams like Köln, Hamburg etc. Hope the team can cope with the pressure and the high expectations the fans have after the positive result vs Freiburg and the good news about Reus' new contract. would be an immense boost for the coming weeks

How has Kampl been received?

Starting lineup, confirmed:

Weidenfeller
Piszczek - Subotic - Sokratis - Schmelzer
Sahin - Gundogan
Kampl - Kagawa - Reus
Aubameyang

Bench: Langerak, Ginter, Kirch, Jojic, Mkhitaryan, Immobile, Ramos

Looks like Klopp is starting to settle on a consistent team and that Miki/Ciro find their way out of it for the time being. Key game for the attacking players to build on Saturday's showing and reassure their own positions in the team for the coming weeks, let's see how they'll do. Looking especially at Kagawa and Kampl here.

Won't be an easy game, Mainz are more similar to the way most teams in the league have set up against BVB this season than they are to Freiburg who made it easy the other day. They'll set up defensively in numbers and just play on the counter, the team will have to do a better job to break them down than they have for much of the season against these kind of sides.

He hasn't really made a notable impact yet, although it's difficult in this situation seeing as the attack has been disassembled all season long especially in the league and we haven't consistently played the short, passing football that the Dortmund teams of past seasons did. He's still settling into the squad as well and learning how to play with his teammates but also a new league. The German league is obviously of a much higher standard than the Austrian is.

I'll reserve my judgment on him until he's had enough time to settle in and showcase his talents, so far he's not been anything special but the potential is there and if we can start being more consistent with our attacking game plan, we'll get more out of him and others when they're on the ball.

Fantastic start of the match, big mistake in BVB defence and Mainz take an early lead. Still don't know if Subotic is guilty for the Mainz lead.

Meanwhile Borussia had couple of good chances, I think they can come back from this shock. Come on Bvb

4-2 in the end. First game this season Dortmund could still win after going down. Still time to get a proper goalie.

Borussia is only four points from seventh spot. Situation for now isn't so bad, we must continue winning streak.

Good fight back, lot of firsts in this game for the season. First time the team came from behind to win a game, first time scoring 4 goals in a league game, and first time winning 2 on the bounce since early September. All well overdue but better late than never.

Appreciated the effort the players kept putting in, could noticeably tell that the hunger in them was bigger than in previous games and I'm sure the events of the previous week had a big effect on them (Reus' renewal, the win at Freiburg, the fans' reaction after Augsburg).

Thought Reus, Aubameyang, and Sahin were quite good in this one. Kampl also got an assist and worked tirelessly off the ball, still a lot more to come from him once he settles in. Kagawa was quiet but still had some good moments so an improvement of sorts from him. Wasn't impressed with anyone in defense, Subotic and Weidenfeller shouldn't be starting anymore with all the mistakes they continue to make. Hope Klopp will reinstate Langerak in goal soon if Roman doesn't get his act together.

All in all a good day in the office and a platform to build on now. Stuttgart away next, not an easy match but a win would surely calm down a lot of the fears that this team is bound to be in a relegation fight.

I'm surprised you don't blame Klopp for Subotic and Weidenfeller's mistakes. I mean, he is such an overrated coach and so responsable for the situation Dortmund is in.

Going back to the team set-up, I want to see PEA playing as the sole striker from now. I know it's not his natural position but he has proven far more efficient in that position than both Immobile AND Ramos. With PEA in the forward position and Reus + Kuba on the wings, Dortmund will become impressive again when going forward and will look less lethargic.
