Borussia Dortmund

I heard they are going bust it's a shame they only won the UCL 7 years ago. So is excistence as a club going to end?? And if so is it at the end of the season??

The club will survive. They reached an agreement with all their creditors about a moratorium. Without this agreement, the club would have been bankrupt by now. But in the upcoming years, don't expect to see many superstar players in Dortmund. They will have to lower their payroll and to sell their assets ( like Rosicky, Koller ..) to be able to pay back their debts in time.
The time of champions league football seems to be over for the next couple of years in Dortmund.

It is really a shame how the management drove this club into financial desaster over the last 5 years.

Yes, for sure ( though i should be glad as a Hamburg supporter since Dortmund was totally out of reach for us a couple of years ago )...

also Atletico Madrid is very interested in signing him. A big plus point for them is that his brother played there....

I agree I think he might do very well but wouldn't he be second choice for the first two years because doesn't he play in the Attacking Mildfield position? Also is he left footed (out of curiosity).

Rosicky said he feels well in Dortmund. Although it is quite surprising to me i really have the impression now that he won't leave Dortmund at the end of the season.

He will leave dortmund if he likes the club because he would want to help them by their financial situation.. And he wanted to leave the club last summer so im not so sure he will stay in Dortmund this season either.. He is Dortmunds Mvp too..

I hope its not a mistake by Smolarek to sign on for 4 years. I like the team and hope he stays, only if they are competitive. He is a good Polish talent.

Maybe, just maybe, its time again.

Dortmund's MVP ? That definitely must be Jan Koller.

When it's up to financial value i agree that they won't get more money for any other player than Rosicky but when it is about how valuable a player was to the team i can't think of anybody but Koller.

Although it may come as a surprise, i dont want to see the departure of Ahmed Madouni. I realize he didnt do much these last 2 years (played only 20 games) but he was very good in the 2002-2003 season. He played a majority of the games in the league and in the Champions League, and i thought he fared pretty well. BVB missed the quarter-finals by 1 point that year, and had AC Milan (eventual champs) and Real Madrid (semi-finalists) in their group.

Sunderland and West Brom are both interested in the summer signing of Czech
striker Jan Koller, the giant Czech forward was actually wanted by Sunderland
a few years back, but they have returned in one of their brief appearances
out of obscurity.
The move has been confirmed on official Borussia Dortmund website which
stated:

"Koller has been the subject of interest from Sunderland and West Bromwich
Albion, both of which have made contact with Borussia Dortmund.

"A deal is possible and it is believed that Koller would prefer the move to
Sunderland because he would be more likely to get regular appearances."

It is said he fancies at least a season in the Premiership, which makes
Sunderland favourites, because if he had went to West Brom he may have to play
more.

Would be great steps up for both Sunderland and West Brom as he's been Dortmunds best player this season, Jon. Definitely been more valuable to them than Rosicky for example.

To think that Ajax wanted Koller but didn't opt for him cos of his age and price to instead go for Charisteas for 5m. Jan definitely would have worked better at Ajax imo as his link-up play is far better than Harrys.

Smolarek looks a good deal for Dortmund btw. There's also talk that Bert van Marwijk might bring over Shinji Ono (for Rosicky I guess then) and perhaps Acuna, whos a tough tackling but poor passing DM over from Feyenoord.

Buckley though I think is nothing more than a journeyman who's just had one good season but hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

i dont understand the thinking behind these decisions that the agents of some of these players make for them....it is absolutely ludicrious. I mean how can a player like Jan Koller consider leaving Bourissa Dortmund to go to the Premiership and ply his trade for a club like Sunderland (with all due respect). I agree Dortmund have had a bad season but do people honsetly think that Sunderland are by any stretch of the imagination a bigger club than Dortmund? Not on your life!! and hey...we are talkin of Jan Koller here....a player who i think was the best Czech player bar none at the Euro. It was because of him that Baros banged in all those goals..... the same kind of thinking amazes me....Owen Hargreaves has apparently been advised to join Liverpool FC because playing in the Premiership will boost his chances of making the England setup at the World Cup. Again that is just plain stupid. Granted Liverpool have reached the finals of the Champions League this season and are historically a great club, but are they honestly any better than Bayern? Never !!!! Well if the players want to make stupid calls..wat do we care...its their careers....

Agree about Koller. He can easily get into the current Liverpool side for example (he'd link up better with Baros than either Morientes or Cisse for sure imo) and also for the likes of Villa , Everton and even my Spurs with Defoe, Keano, Mido and Kanoute he'd be an improvement on what they got up front. But he is past 30 now and maybe he'll see this summer as his last chance to get to play in the EPL and jump at the opportunity but I definitely hope that he'll choose a better club than Sunderland or West Brom, if not stay at Dortmund and continue working there under Bert van Marwijk.
