Spain - Chile (Estadio do Maracana ; 16:00)

Spain are coming off a horrendous start to their 2014 World Cup campaign after suffering a thrashing at the hands of Netherlands. It doesn't help that they will be facing a bright Chile side who will attack them hard. Looks to be the match of the day.

My Prediction: Spain 1-1 Chile

Spain were a great side from 2008-2012. That is something the history books will always have written down.

Chile has very bad defence. But so does Spain it seems. Hoping Chile wont lose. Cant see them winning either though, unbalanced team also Vidal is not 100% fit, struggling with an injury, partly rushed back, played under painkillers first match and still had to come of earlier than expected.

time for Spain to bow out...if they go 1-0 down its over psychologically

I can't predict this game, it can go anyway. What I will predict though is that there will not be many goals, but it will be great excitement.

It looks like Del Bosque is going to make a few changes for this match. Personally I would go with:

Casillas
Azpilicueta --- Javi Martinez --- Ramos --- Alba
Busquets --- Alonso
Pedro --- Silva --- Iniesta
Costa

He should have taken Jesus Navas for plan B.

He would have offered more directness, especially with Costa in the side.

Agreed in that Xavi probably won't be dropped. That is the eleven that I would field. However it is expected that there will be some change.

Their squad is so deep, they can change the whole lineup and still be title contender.
Doubt that Del Bosque will make more than 2-3 changes though.

Valdivia is so great the coach doesn't even start him or subs him off after 70 mins because it would be unfair for the other team.

Heorearaucano is a great chilean fan, no doubt. But he cant see past Valdivia and even Sampaoli.

Valdivia is an extremely moody player, has done excellent in Brasil, but why did he not ever play in Europe ?

That happens to be a measuring tape, even for brazilians.

I personally wanted him sub'ed in the first game minutes after he scored, Sampaoli took for ever to do so.

We shall see today, if he even plays, all we chileans can do is HOPE that if he does step into the pitch at Maracana, he's in the right mood, otherwise he's wasting someone else's playing time for my country .

Go Chile go. Beat The Panaderos !!!

It depends on who scores first. If Chile scores it will be tough for Spain to recover mentaly.
But at the end I predict a Spanish victory.

Swiss Fan...1962 in Santiago, Chile on a cold winter day. Switzerland and Italy already eliminated played at an almost sold out Nacional.
I was a tadpole but I was there with a great friend of mine to this day and age, and his Dad.
What an experience for 2 young Lads that was. Unforgetable memories come back just like if it was yesterday.

Good luck to the Men with the White on Red !!!

VALDIVIA IS CLASSICAL 10 (CREATIVE MIDFIELDER)
THE CLASSICAL 10s PLAY NOT IN EUROPA.
NEVER MUST PLAY IN EUROPA!!!!!! Pelé, Sócrates, Nolberto Alonso, Pedro Rocha, Alex Aguinaga, Carlos Reinoso, Francisco Valdés, Dirceu, Bochini, all great creative midfielder, they never never to succeed in Europe.

The play of a classic 10 is very coach for football Eurpero.
Those truks in Europe only think in to run and defend.
They'll never be ready to appreciate a style cerebral and creative of classical 10.
They do not appreciate a genius because their football is rough and rude.

Please do not make comparison between European and South American football because they are very different styles. Eurocentrism is an ideological error.

Colo colo you live in USA and do not understand anything.
Here we know the opinion of the great journalists,

hey colocolo you know to PATRICIO YAŃEZ!!!!!????

He said: "en Brasil 2014 me ilusiona mucho el momento de Valdivia"

Valdivia has physical problems to withstand 90 minutes, but the manager will never leave him outside because he admires Valdivia and his game. Chile never will dispense with of Valdivia, is our genio, our SECRET WEAPON

Everyone predicting a Chilean victory must be slightly delusional.

Yes Spain got embarrassed by a very talented Dutch squad, but sometimes those things happen. Everything was clicking for some of the most talented attacking players in the world who had revenge on their mind.

Honestly I think it was no more embarrassing losing to Holland 5-1 than to Switzerland 1-0 four years ago. If anything, losing to Switzerland was more embarrassing because we all know who the Dutch are...but who the **** is Switzerland on the world football stage?

But they still recovered and won the world cup. Remember that today.
