Brazil's world cup squad

Quote:
Voorlopige selectie Brazilië
Keepers: Julio Cesar (Toronto FC), Jefferson (Botafogo), Victor (Atletico Mineiro)
Defensie: Marcelo (Real Madrid), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (AS Roma), Maxwell, Thiago Silva (Paris St. Germain), David Luiz (Chelsea), Dante (Bayern Munich), Henrique (Napoli)
Middenveld: Paulinho (Tottenham Hotspur), Ramires, Willian, Oscar (Chelsea), Hernanes (Internazionale), Luiz Gustavo (VfL Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City),
Aanval: Bernard (Shakhtar Donetsk), Neymar (Barcelona), Fred (Fluminense), Jo (Atletico Mineiro), Hulk (Zenit St.-Petersburg).
Proves that playing at Toronto FC can get you a world cup call-up Defoe

No bear, Alex, but the versatile Henrique instead.

Rafinha didn't get called up either despite starting quite a few games for Bayern.

Brazil's midfield and forward line-up is full of players whom Scolari has called up most of the time. No surprises, except maybe for Robinho not being called up.

Not a great squad on paper really apart from the defence

Those with outside chances like Coutinho neither. One of the least surprising squad announcements in a while.

Coutinho never had a chance. No call ever for the senior team and no big injuries to open space for him.

Alex is not good enough, Wally. Miranda is a surprise. And Robinho was only called once in a friendly that many players are not avaliable. And Scolari is a troll.

That's what I would qualify as surprise, so called no chance guys. Recalling someone with nearly 100 caps is not exactly a surprise to me, it will be based experience and good form and can often be guessed one way or another.

Other than Miranda (who indeed has been good for Atletico), which other players would you have really liked to have seen been called up?

Scolari should, at least, like Oscar more than Mourinho does

Anyone likes Oscar more than mourinho does. If he could, he would have benched C.Ronaldo for one of those work horses he love.

I see lack of experience in midfield. There isnt a reliable veteran there, seen it all type of player. In the past success Brazil always had that type of player.

1994: Dunga 31 years old
2002: Rivaldo 30 years old

The closest to that is Hernanes but his hardly a veteran for Brazil NT.

Oscar hasnt had a great season either, looking at some of these names, i think 2018 is more like their year. Oscar, Williain too early.

Will Scolari play David Luiz in midfield?

What is the main formation? Looking at the squad, 4-3-3?

4-3-3 and you are exagerating the experience issue.

Diego Alves, Lucas Moura, Miranda and Felipe Luís are all better than the players called for their positions but Scolari is a conservative git so no surprise in not seeing them called.

Victor is playing as well as Diego Alves, but Valencia destroyed his career in the NT for years with the constant in and out with Guiata.

Lucas Moura is not and was never better than Oscar, Bernard, Hulk or Willian. And had lots of chances to do something for the NT and was a completly failure.

Miranda is good and was good years. Rever and Dede are also better than Henrique. Henrique is scolari pet, that is all.

Felipe Luís is better than Marcelo, but never showed it in the NT. Maxwell did.

Yeah think he could have picked some better players. Still Brazil will be solid and workmanlike this year and rely on big performances from 2 or 3 attacking players.

I don't think that Lucas Moura is better than Oscar and I haven't seen enough of Bernard to judge but he is slightly better than Hulk and definitely better than Willian.

Lucas is not better than Hulk or William, it is limited player that put the ball in the ground and go in, with little vision or inteligence. He is not even such starter for PSG and his impact on his clubs have been always average. For NT he was null despite 3 years calls.

That sounds exactly the same as...Hulk or Willian.

Hulk's a much better striker of the ball though.Good to have a man in the squad that can score from outside the box like he can.

He choose European based players mostly for South American World Cup?
No Robinho?
No Dinho?

The team will fail miserably.
The squid had spoken...

The local fans will NOT support them full-heartedly.
