UEFA Cup : Brann - Everton

First game february 13th or 14th 2008. Return leg a week later. In the next round we'll face the winner of Fiorentina - Rosenborg. Would be funny if it was RBK, but I'm holding Fiorentina as clear favourites.

Anyways, fun to finally play an english side again. Should be two good games.

So did you get hold of a ticket, Jinxter?

I don't understand what all the fuzz is about. "It's impossible to get a ticket", "I waited 4 hours in the line".. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they only sell the tickets at Brann stadion? So to not get a ticket, you'd have to have at least 10 000 people ahead of you in the line.. I went over there at 15:00 and waited for 5-10 minutes..

Well, yes, of course I got a ticket. And they've only sold like 7-8k tickets last I heard, so not sure why some people are having trouble. But then again, I stopped paying attention once I got mine

Starting lineup is finally ready :
Opdal
Dahl - Bjarnason - Sigurdsson - Hanstveit
Solli - El Fakiri - Bakke - Vaagan Moen
Karadas - Helstad

Looks strong enough really, just hope everyone are well after their injuries.

Will be interesting to see how well we do against Everton so long before the league starts up again, as long as they don't score, we should have a shot at progressing.

I hate winter breaks. That's the best time to be watching the games.

Anyway, how do you think you will do tonight and in the tie overall? Honestly? Worried about any players in particular?

Well, I'm not worried about any particular players, but I think we'll struggle with the Everton players being more matchfit than the Brann players. We're in the middle of the preseason training, and the players will probably tire out a lot faster than the opposition. If we are to win, we'll need to score in the first half, and just ride it out probably...
Which Brann is horrible at, we're all about attacking normally.

It'll be tough, but not impossible.

Brann really well so far. Should have about 4 goals at this point. Everton's defence just haven't got a clue when you start running at them. I just hope that you continue to play as well in the 2nd half and convert some of your chances.

, am not sure you were watching the same game. most chances in the first half were just 1/2 ones. Brann had a really good spell around 75 mins when we got complacent. apart from that and set pieces, I felt our defence was good. admittedly - we were lucky with our 2nd goal, it was offside.

Would give Anichiebe the benefit of the doubt on that one. Marginally offside. First half your defence were all over the place, losing possession in your own area, letting the Brann striker receive the ball in between your centre-halves. Looked very edgy.

From my position in the stands, which admittedly was not the best, the first goal came after a crystal clear foul on a Brann-player, while the second was offside. Haven't seen any replays, but that's how I saw it. We could have had a goal right before half time, the one that was disallowed, but I can't say anything about that one. Might have been correct for what I know.

Disappointing, but all in all a good performance by us, considering that we're in the middle of pre-season. The guests from Merseyside didn't sing much, but they stole the show after scoring. I'll give them that.

never seen the foul on the brann player, though it may have been swept under the carpet by english commentators. The foul by Bakke was correct - he had his hand on Howard's shouldner to give him an advantage.

Everyone around me screamed when that happened and my friend said: "Would be so typical if they score now" which they did seconds after. Not easy for me to say for sure, but it looked like a foul to me.

Didn't see the Bakke-incident well, so I'm glad to hear that it was correct.

And Oli, STFU!
