UEFA Cup : Basel - Brann

What's this? Me making a thread before the match has been played? Out of season? Inconceivable!

We need a win to secure the next stage progress, but a draw will probably be enough. A loss might be enough, but doubtful.

Basel is the team I had rated the lowest before the games started, but they have more points than anticipated.. Hopefully we'll get a point or three despite all our central midfielders being suspended.

Good luck! I loved your win against Zagreb, and it was great tv drama as well. It's going to be difficult, but I also think a draw might be enough, and Brann at their very best and with a dash of luck, could pull it off.

Players that are out: Eirik Bakke(CM), Hassan El Fakiri(CM), Tijan Jaiteh(CM), Robbie Winters(FW) and Kristjan Írn Sigurdsson(CB).

Mjelde will evidently put a back (Guntveit) and a winger (Solli) in centrally due to our lack of central midfielders, also a left back (Hanstveit) in centrally in defense. It will be interesting to see what we can get out of this match. It's certain however that this will be our weakest lineup in an important match in years.

Really well deserved win to Basel. They owned us in the first half, much thanks to Corrales being lousy and giving them as much space as they wanted.

In the second half, Hanstveit secured the left back, and Brann got a few chances. It was a fairly even match after that.

I'm glad Brann'll have a winter break now though, cause they're in lousy form cause of the lack of match practice. Getting some players back from injury and suspension will really help out if we progress to the next round.
