Michael Laudrup

A tribute to the legend.
Undoubtedly underrated by It's fair share of pundits, during his reign.
Of course, looked upon with respect for his achievement's, his genius, he deserves more credit.
Statistics illustrates a hint about the man's greatness, yet doesn't tell the whole story:

Career:

* 1980-1982: KB
* 1982-1983: Brøndby IF
* 1983-1985: S.S. Lazio
* 1985-1989: Juventus FC
* 1989-1994: FC Barcelona
* 1994-1996: Real Madrid CF
* 1996-1997: Vissel Kobe (Japan)
* 1997-1998: Ajax Amsterdam

Legacy, in Black and White:

* League championships
o Serie A 1985-86 with Juventus
o La Liga 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94 with Barcelona; 1994-95 with Real Madrid
o Eredivisie 1997-98 with Ajax
* Domestic cups
o Spanish Cup 1990 with Barcelona
o Spanish Super Cup 1991 and 1992 with Barcelona
o Dutch Cup 1998 with Ajax
* European cups
o Intercontinental Cup 1985 with Juventus
o European Cup 1992 with Barcelona
o European Supercup 1992 with Barcelona
* Individual awards
o Danish Player of the Year 1982 and 1985
o La Liga Player of the year 1992 and 1993
o Best Foreign Player in Spanish Football the last 25 years (1974-1999)
o Denmarks Best Player Ever (2006)

Impressive. To end with a qoute by a Kaiser, Franz Beckenbauer: "60'ties belongs to Pele, 70'ties to Johan Cruyff, 80'ties to Diego Maradona, 90'ties to Michael Laudrup".

Next stop's coachingville, foreign based that is. Spain, precisely.
Latest news are that ten clubs aspires to acquire his services.
Let's keep the thread updated once in a while with news, anecdote's, etc. Pay homage.

Looks like Getafe's set to kick-start with the ambassador leading their front guard.

Bernd Schuster was quoted saying the following:

"He was a fantastic footballer with Magic as a coach he's modern, carries the same philosophy wished upon here; quick passing, ball in possession. La Liga's waiting, hopefully and why not Getafe.

Later on continued:

"If he was a woman he'd be my girlfriend. And that's the truth and nothing but the truth"

Interesting. Evolving, in fact. Should be exciting.

That's a big quote! Where did you get that?

APATHY: A word now fallen into disuse due to a lack of concern for it.

Any guesses to what club Laudrup will join? No matter what club he may join, I will support them (unless it's Barca and Atletico) as well as Real Madrid of course.

I think he will go to Getafe or maybe even Real Betis if they stay up. I would hope he could join Sevilla but Juande Ramos does really well right now.

Today Laudrup got a contract from Recreativo de Huelva and he will now respond in four days time. I think he will accept the offer from Recreativo; it's official that he will take his son, Andreas Laudrup (16), with him as well.

"It's true. Laudrup has recieved an offer from Recreativo de Huelva. He'll now consider it and has promised to answer back in three to four days time. It's a very serious offer." - Bayram Tutumlu.

Will be so exciting to see Michael Laudrup in La Liga next season! Can't wait!

It's official if we look at bold.dk.

Michael Laudrup has said no to Recreativo de Huelva because his children can't get a needed / good enough school.

Maybe he'll take charge at Getafe, I hope so. I just hope Schuster doesn't come to Real Madrid.

And he wants to bring a good danish player to the club. I'm really happy John 'Faxe' Jensen and his Erik Larsen (scout) went with him. I just wish the Getafe board would accept his doctor as well. The danish doctors are fenomenal.

I could be biased but I like this coaching staff. =)

The danish media is going crazy about the Laudrup-move, which is pretty damn annoying.
Suddenly we hear news from Getafe every day, and for the past months, there has been constant talk about Laudrup and where he is going to coach.
I mean, how interesting is this really? - Yes, he's a legendary footballer, but he hasn't really proven anything in his career as a coach.
Assistant coach for the danish NT in order to get some experiences, and a few years with only one title for Brøndby.
To top that, a truly amateurish exit at the same club, which was probably Brøndbys fault though.

They must have been joking, when they created rumours about him coaching Real Madrid and so on.

I am hoping that the media will be quiet about Laudrup now, atleast for some time, cause I really don't give a damn about some Getafe substitute getting injured in a pre-season match.

So far it's not going as planed fore Laudrup, only 1 point in 3 matches and 4 red cards. Not exactly a great start, but i'm sure he will improve the league position.
