Very nice, you were just in tropical Paradise! Awesome blossom pics! You're right if it wasnt for Vasco de Gama and the good ol' band of white colonizers where would south Asian cuisine be.

they were traders and discoverers not colonizers who as positive side effect broke the Islamistic trade monopoly in Asia and Africa and did a MPGA

the castillians were colonizers and exploiters, and smelly ones at that

a little known battle in our parts, but one that changed world‘s history like few others did

main difference is, Portuguese also brought things and ideas to the countries they had trade centers in, while Castellanos only took, stole, raped, destroyed and exploited. they even tried that with Portugal many times but failed miserably

learned to cooked Vindaloo too. using fresh spices and seeds and vinegar and all.

what they sell in Europe as "Vindaloo" is a joke, with potatoes and what not, disgusting. but then, those guys are probably from Northern India or so and don't have a clue what and where Goa is.

yeah, the football love is great too. and they chuckle on the rest of India and their cricket mania good to see every village has a footie pitch (mostly next to the church lol) and kids playing would have gone to a Goan Pro League game but they had a break Sporting Clube would have been the team of my choice, since there is no Benfica, only on youth level.

Just got back from a Brazilian family's house where they and their Goan friend did all the food.

The church I go to has a lot of Brazilians, Portuguese and Goans, so get-togethers/prayer groups you always get well fed

Nice pics.

An inexpensive alternative to a week (or so) in Lisbon might be Raul Ruiz' film/series, Mysteries of Lisbon.

heard about the film/series, haven‘t watched it yet. should give it a try. read the book at Uni back then, but didn‘t really like it (not a big fan of romantic literature generally) but that doesn‘t mean much
