Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

I used to cheer for the former communist block nations, Cold War style, dunno why really. Could be considered glory-hunting in OC, though the US, GB, Germany etc. were really dominant in that period 1992-2000.

So it'd be, prioritized:

*Russia/CIS
*Other former USSR states
*Other EE states
*Cuba
*North Korea/Mongolia

Or China if non of the above were in competition.

There were some real quality cold war products left.

Swimming (Popov)
Gymnastics (Nemov)
Greco-Roman (Karelin)
Boxing (Felix Savón)
Athletics (Zelezny, Pedroso, Sotomayor)
Volleyball (Cuba women's team )

Also a soft spot for Italy and Argentina, in football and cycling.

These days I don't feel too attached, though I am gonna watch the footie tournament.

Football in 1996, though, was that a quality tournament.

I'll probably watch the road cycling. If I'm really bored I might watch some the wrestling & judo. Other than that I'll pretty much pass on the Olympics if the BBC will let me.

It's more the wall to wall coverage on television & radio that's a bit annoying. I like to occasionally watch the news on TV, more out of habit than anything else, & it's insufferable & going to get worse over the next 6 weeks
