Who will be the king of the track?
Some interesting things happening on the track and we could be in for a great 100m final in London.
So basically, you all know the freak that is Usain Bolt, reigning Olympic champion and world record holder for both the 100m and the 200m.
His form has declined slightly since the world championships in 2009 where he last broke the world record.
Over the last half decade his main rival has been the American Tyson Gay, who is the only man who has come close to matching the freakish times Bolt has run. His form too has slightly declined, yet nothing out of the ordinary.
The strongest new contender is the current world champion (after Bolt was disqualified) and the man who just beat Bolt over both the 100m and the 200m at the Jamaican trials - Yohan Blake.
Blake has improved his times drastically over the past few seasons, including a ridiculous 19.26 in the 200m last season. His best for the 100m is 9.75 which he ran 3 days ago.
Another contender who has popped up somewhat out of the blue is the disgraced former Olympic champion in 2004, Justin Gatlin. He was banned for doping and has picked up form since returning after a 4 year ban. Days ago he clocked an impressive 9.80 [his personal best] to beat Tyson Gay at the US Olympic trials.
So, can any of these men stand in the way of Usain Bolt in his pursuit to become just the second man to defend his 100m title at the Olympics (and the first to actually do it, no disrespect Carl but you won it on a technicality)?
Leaving Asafa Powell out of this because he's a choker.
