#5 Daniel Schwaab

Summer signing no.1 and it's a shock one!

We have signed Daniel Schwaab on a 3 year deal via a Bosman from VFB Stuttgart

He will be 28 in August and has 188 Bundesliga appearances as well as playing both UCL and UEL football before

He has been at Stuttgart for the last 3 seasons but before that played 4 seasons at Leverkusen

He is a CB but has also played a large number of games at RB

One would assume he is Bruma's replacement

You seem quite open-minded about this one?

I have my doubts personally only because of the poor season Stuttgart had last season. They conceded a league high of 75 goals as they went down.

He does have a lot of Bundesliga and European experience, plus he's versatile as he can play CB, RB and CDM.

Was he a regular at Stuttgart?

He was indeed, in all three of his seasons there. Was also a regular at Leverkusen before that, which is very good pedigree upon reflection.

He's like the German Michael Dawson.

Yes, keeping an open mind about Daniel at this stage and not only because of his pedigree

At first I was shocked and didn't know what to think but after looking into it it is not such a random transfer after all. We wanted to sign him back when he left Leverkusen in 2013 + Huub Stevens coached him for two seasons and is a big fan of his

I don't recall seeing him play but he is meant to be more of a ball playing CB from the sounds of things so not really a destroyer like Bruma

At the very least he should be a good signing for the Eredivisie + he came on a free

Same could be said about Bruma, he was absolute garbage at HSV
