KNVB Beker 15/16

I just realised there was no thread made this year as i was away during our second round 3-2 win vs Cambuur

This time around it should be a much easier task playing 4th tier SC Genemuiden in Eindhoven

Kick-off is at 18:30 CET tomorrow night

I have no idea how much Cocu will rotate the squad for this one

Lestienne has started training again but will most likely miss the game

De Jong
Pereiro x3
Moreno
Propper

were the goalscorers in the 6-0 win against SC Genemuiden. 3 of the goals came from corners. Locadia picked up an injury late on in the game.

Nothing out of the ordinary then

I was surprised to see such a strong line-up being played. We started with: Pasveer; Arias - Isimat - Moreno - Brenet; Pröpper - Hendrix - Schaars - Pereiro - de Jong - Locadia.

Locadia's injury doesn't appear to be serious btw

Good to see 31 000 fans show up for this game We would get half that number in a UEL group stage match

One thing is for sure - Pereiro has to start instead of Narsingh against Wolfsburg next week

The kid can shoot/score goals!

What can the Indian from Amsterdam do apart from run in a straight line down the right wing and put a good cross in once every 5 attempts?

PSV have been mediocre so far against Heracles

Heracles went 1-0 up, I think Pasveer could have stopped the shot from Bel Hassani going in. Locadia made it 1-1 through a free kick that he won. A pass back to Pasveer from Schaars wasn't good enough, got intercepted by Tannane who was fouled by Pasveer who got sent off and Tannane scored the penalty. Bruma got a knock after a slide tackle from Werghorst...

Maher had a cross that Castro caught (isn't how I should be describing what happened) it but couldn't keep hold of the ball and ended up scoring an own goal... Very fortunate goal for PSV

In the first minute of extra time, Locadia makes it 2-3 for PSV.

Maher passes out wide to Brenet who passes to De Jong, De Jong flicked the ball into space where Locadia was able to shoot 20 something yards out into the far bottom corner.

PSV are through to next round.

I was quite sure we were going to lose this one but two great finishes by Locadia (who has really taken his game to the next level this season) and a blunder by Castro bailed us out

I agree that Pasveer could have done better for the first goal

Bruma picked up a knock to his achilles and will miss our final league game vs Zwolle on Saturday

Quite a few changes made by Cocu for this game btw

PSV: Pasveer; Brenet, Bruma (56' Arias), Isimat, Moreno; Maher, Schaars (84' Jozefzoon), Guardado; Bergwijn (49' Zoet), de Jong, Locadia

How did he manage to do that?!

We play FC Utrecht at home on Thursday, 4th of February in the Quarter Finals of the KNVB Beker

Not the easiest draw but at least we avoided bogey team Roda JC

KNVB Beker QF: PSV vs Utrecht

Thursday 20:45 CET at the Philips Stadion

It's the quarter finals of the cup already

This has really been a competition that I have paid minimal attention to because I thought we would lose to a Roda type club somewhere along the way to the latter stages

AZ, Feyenoord and 3rd tier VVSB have already qualified for the Semis

This is also one of two games we play against Utrecht this week as we visit them in the Eredivisie on Sunday

Cocu has said that the team has practised taking penalties in training this week, which is comforting knowing our dismal penalty record...

I expect Cocu to go full strength (from who is available) for this one. A few interesting selections for him to make with Willems on his way back and who to pick from Maher and van Ginkel (Guardado and Schaars being injured)

Pasveer

Arias - Bruma - Moreno - Brenet

Hendrix

Pröpper - Maher

Narsingh - de Jong (C) - Locadia

What was that all about?

Ok, CL and the league title are priorities, but it's not like a bunch of reserves played tonight

Thoughts about Van Ginkel?

1-3 FT

Shit happens

Cocu admitted Utrecht were better and deserved the win

To be fair to Utrecht they have impressed me this year. They are very organised and hard to break down and have quality attacks so it's not like we were beaten by a crap side

Beating them on Sunday is a must though

On van Ginkel, it was his first game - way too early to pass judgement
