The Injuries Thread

Instead of posting injuries news all over the place here is it's own dedicated thread where no player wants to end up

We've just been hit with the news that Florian Jozefzoon suffered a serious knee injury vs Vitesse and will be out for 6 to 9 months

I said it before he got injured that we need another winger in the squad to improve our depth as Boljević is too young/inexperienced and Locadia is no winger (not much of a striker either) but now it's really a necessity

Come on Brands - you have 10 days to bring in a winger!

A bit of bad news coming in:

Karim Rekik suffered a strained hamstring against AZ and will be out for around 2 weeks

This means he will miss both ties with Zenit and it's unknown whether he will make it back in time for the Ajax game in Eindhoven

Luckily Isimat proved his worth in the last 3 games. Now we have to hope Bruma is totally fit again.

I'm still not convinced over Isimat but hopefully he proves me wrong

Bruma has to be fit! Otherwise it's Jordy de Wijs

The other big news this past week was that Jorrit Hendrix successfully underwent surgery for a problem with his abdominal muscle

Apparently he was playing the whole second half of the season under painkillers because he wanted to wait until we were champions to have surgery What a lad!

He should be back in time for pre-season training

Jetro Willems out for at least 8 weeks with his knee problem. Probably won't play until November

What a bummer . Hope Poulsen can keep up, lucky we have him instead of Tamata now.

Probably the best replacement you could have had considering he was free.

Proven left-back, glad he'll get some games. Hope he's not caught out on the counter too often on the other hand because he does lack a little pace while tracking back.

The 8-10 weeks (original estimate from PSV) was too optimistic, will be out for 12-13 weeks. December will be earliest he plays then.

Jozefzoon has returned to training over the international break

Nicoli Laursen (only mentioning because he is in our CL squad list) has picked up an injury that will keep him out for about 2 months, he got the injury before the international break with PSV U19.

Maher won't be available for the game against Cambuur, has a thigh injury.

Boljevic (also in our CL squad list with little chance of getting minutes) has an ankle injury, it is unknown how long he will be out for, he won't be available for Jong PSV's next game at least. Could be a very short term injury.

I heard that he will be back at the 'end of October' rather than December. Either way, bad news seeing as he will at least miss half of our UCL games.

Jozefzoon will probably be a Jong PSV player this season if he does return to full fitness. I don't think he has a future at the club.

Yeah I heard just yesterday Willems is only expected to miss two CL games.

Big miss if he doesn't make it.

Wait I made a big miscalculation, I counted an extra month for some reason when I was first working out how long 8 weeks would be from when he got his injury. He should be recovered late October but still won't be ready for matches until November I'd presume.

My mistake, sorry for causing any confusion if any.

Also Boljevic is out for 6-8 weeks according to Pascal Jansen.

Our third choice goalkeeper (Luuk Koopmans) has been having shoulder problems recently too...

Luuk de Jong is ready to make minutes against Excelsior. He will probably be sent into the game as a substitute, but that alone is promising enough.

Guardado seems to be almost fully recovered. He already made minutes against Ajax and he played 80 minutes against the USA as well.

Jozefzoon (who has extended his contract this week) will play for PSV 2 in the game against Fortuna Sittard. His first match in about 9 months!

Willems was about to make minutes in this game as well, but had to postpone his comeback; he fell on his knee during yesterday's training. Doesn't seem too serious though.

Some bad news from the hospital. Willems has to rest for at least six more weeks. Seems like he won't make his return in 2015.. what a bummer.

This just seems to be the story of our season so far, doesn't it?

As soon as we think we are back to full strength, another injury/absentee arrives...

New injury to add to the list: Luciano Narsingh

He will miss the next 3 weeks with a hamstring strain which pretty much means he will most likely be back in action after the winter break

Although he is by no means my favourite PSV player his injury really leaves us short on the wing positions

The good news is that Lestienne is expected to return to De Herdgang some time next week

The aftermath of the Ajax game is not as bad as first though:

Locadia will be out for 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury, which means he will miss the AZ game whilst Pröpper has been put on an individual training program for his metatarsal injury but it is expected that he will be fit for AZ
