The thread where you can criticise Cocu's team selection, formation or tactics in general at your own will
I'll start of by focusing on the Memphis injury situation. Cocu came out in the media yesterday and said that there are 3 options to replace Memphis - Guardado, Locadia and Jozefzoon.
I would want Guardado to focus on that CDM role rather than LW and as for Locadia - i've said it before - he's not a winger.
For the time being i would go with:
Arias - Bruma - Rekik - Willems
Wijnaldum - Maher
Narsingh - de Jong - Jozefzoon
Also, 4-3-3 is great and everything
but i was thinking for a while now that we need to be smarter with our tactics, especially when playing in Europe.
At home teams come and put 10 men behind the ball and we become somewhat predictable.
I would want to see us try this against Estoril - even if its only for 30 mins or so:
Isimat - Bruma - Rekik
Arias - Wijnaldum - Maher - Willems
de Jong - Locadia
This way Arias and Willems can get crosses into de Jong and Locadia - who are both great headers of the ball - and we compensate defensively by having 3 CBs and a CDM to cover for Arias and Willems defensive frailties.
Without Memphis our other wingers (Narsingh and Jozefzoon) are counter attacking players and we just won't get as much out of them against teams that come and park the bus!
