Ji-Sung Park Retires!

A joke like Jetro Willems has a thread, so this guy definitely deserves one.

Not unexpectedly, he has decided to retire because of knee problems.

He still, however, managed to have 23 starts for PSV last season and was one of their better players.

12 years ago, when he first arrived, despite having a good world cup, he needed some time to really adapt to PSV. He looked a bit lost, but in the second season, he was much better and we saw what Park was all about.

Did well at Man U after that. Fergie's favourite player to start in big games because of his hard work and non-stop running.

Dunno what happened at QPR, but everyone looked poor there.

Thankfully, he didn't end his career there on a low and moved to PSV where he had a respectable end to his career.

So what next for him? can we expect him to become a commentator on Korean TV or will he delve into coaching? or will he just completely disappear and relax the rest of his life?

Good career, he was awesome during that 1st spell at PSV when they did well in CL. Had some some great players - Gomes, Alex, Vogel, Cocu, Young-Pyo Lee, Van Bommel, Bouma, and Vennegoor of Hesselink!

Great, great player and personality. It's hard to not like him, he is a perfect role model. Man, i wish he had come back one year earlier so he could play together with Strootman and Van Bommel.

Line-up in the first game against Suwon (being played as i write):

Tyton

Brenet - Bruma - Koch - Tamata

Hiljemark

Vloet - Park

Narsingh - Schalk - Bakkali

No surprises there.

We won our second (and final game) in Korea against Gyeongnam FC : 3-2.

Schalk getting 2 of them and Park scoring in his last game ever

The only change to the line-up from the first game was that van Ooijen replaced Hiljemark

I don't understand why Schalk still gets playing time, he doesn't have any future at PSV. Better give the opportunity to a player like Rayhi.

Oh, and Bakkali was replaced after 15 minutes. Faber did this because Bakkali didn't stick to the plans. He didn't defend when losing the ball. I'm building up a bad feeling about him..

I half agree with you about Schalk, I don't think PSV should be giving him minutes with the first team but on the other hand we were only giving him minutes in a friendly and we are actually paying the guy money, might as well make him do something for it...

I wasn't watching the game so I won't make an opinion on Bakkali but that doesn't sound good...

Probably because we had no other striker in the squad and we wanted to play Vloet in midfield.

This team was chosen from players who had played this season so thats why we saw Schalk but no Ritzmaier for example.

I have to agree with you about Bakkali
