JC Schaal 2012: Ajax vs PSV

To be played on Sunday at 18:00 in the ArenA.

More of an exhibition to start the season than a final traditionally and i dont think it will be any different this time round.

With the fan day taking place yesterday, the Otten Cup starting on Friday and the JC Schaal on Sunday it really is starting to feel like football season again.

Probable XI:

Tyton

Hutchinson - Marcelo - Zanka - Willems

van Bommel - Strootman

Narsingh - Toivonen - Mertens

Lens

Toivonen his ankle still hurts, Advocaat doesn't want to take risks, so he probably won't play. I also think Bouma will play instead of Zanka. Zanka finds it difficult to get himself up to PSV level, but he is getting better and better. But for now Bouma still is the better one i think.

Didnt know about Ola. The headless chook (Wijnaldum) to start at 10 then.

Bouma is a safer option but i would like to see Zanka get a shot in this game, especially as he still needs to get used to his teammates/level.

Those 2 positions are the only ones that are uncertain not just for this game but for when the Eredivisie stars.

Toivonen is probably able to play after all. I don't even know or i'm happy with that. Ajax is probably going to put pressure on us, and Wijnaldum is a better player to handle with that. Wijnaldum also hates Ajax. A midfield with 2 Rotterdammers and Van Bommel would be so nice.

Hmm.. my prediction:

Ajax will try to play the same like last season But PSV is better now, and will have deadly counter attacks.

PSV 2 - 1 Ajax

Mertens
Toivonen

De Jong

I couldnt find extended highlights anywhere, just the goals.

The two early goals obviously helped more than one could imagine. MvB said that we didnt play all that well but got the result, which is good i guess.

It was evident that Ajax didnt want to show all the cards they have as seen in some of the choices in the defence and on the wings. Wheres Eriksen btw?

For us we really needed this game more than Ajax. Firstly to put the pressure off us and secondly to get the team gelling (as we had more players coming in once again).

Ajax really need to sort out that defence, the first two goals were schoolboy errors (that said both Marcelo didnt do us too proud ).

Eriksen is only just back in training, so that's why he didn't play.

Well, Depay has a real personality which is needed to become a real star. I like his style.

The game started really well for PSV, the first chances became a goal. Like Van Bommel said, we weren't even that good, but just really effective. Strootman and Van Bommel gave some really nice passes and our fast attackers know what to do with that. All Ajax did was play around the ball, without a real plan behind it. They only became dangerous by playing balls through the air. They of course missed some important players, but it was weak nonetheless.

A nice picture of 'our' bondscoach:

Atleast we do have an attack to score more than the opponent, can't say that of Feyenoord.

Well Philips Subsidie Verein sure did a lot of spending over the last years, so you better hope things start clicking.

Don't worry about us though, we have something to fall back on. Meanwhile for you guys this season is do or die.

Hehe.. you're right it's an important season for us. But do or die? It's not like we have big financial problems. The new players keep their worth and won't suddenly disappear after a bad season. The shortage in the budget is also getting less. The only problem is the supporters who long a championship more and more.

Against you, no worries; Marcelo will score a couple of spectacular own goals and we'll win with our defense.

I guess some people didn't see this, because it wasn't in the summary. I hope to get to see this more this season.
