Afellay's post says it all.

MvB has come back home and has signed a 1 year deal with the club.

A PSV legend and a former captain. Also currently the Dutch NT captain (although one expects him to retire from international football post EC2012) he brings a wealth of experience.

After spending 6 years at PSV where we won 4 Eredivisie titles he also won the league titles in Spain (with Barcelona), Germany (with Bayern Munich) and Italy (with AC Milan).

Welcome Back Mark!

Could be the linking man.

Should work positively. Don't think Van Bommel will be an annoying old man who was way past it like Davids was.

I think he meant he wont annoy the PSV fans, im very sure he'll annoy the heck out of all the 17 other teams in the league

Everyone thinks he will be the linking man. Giving us a balance in midfield and also helping Strootman with distributing the ball. His experience also comes at a vital time for PSV.

Great signing in that I think he actually came back on time when he still has something to contribute. Unlike Davids like Wally said. Or Kuyt, as it would appear.

Did he cry during the presentation when they played Coldplay's tracks?

Before Davids broke his leg he was useful. Not world class any more but far from disappointing. That Davids | Sneijder | Gabri midfield was awesome.

Great game by Mark van Bommel today bossed the midfield and showed why he played at all those topclubs. He neutralized Bony at 10 and gave some really good passes. Great tackles, on the ball and didnt get booked.

Did he play against Bony? I thought the midfield battle was between Butthead and Van Bommel vs Theo and Van Ginkel.

Vitesse plays a sort of hybrid 442/433 with Janssen and Van Ginkel as CM while Bony functions a targetman/playmaker a bit in front of the opponents box. So when Bony dropped in this position he came up against MvB and Strootman

Both MvB and Strootman were better than Janssen and van Ginkel in general.

MvB was on another level though. Best performance of his in a PSV shirt thus far this season.

Bony had 3 100% chances and of course scored the winner from one of those, so you can't really say the two angry men in your midfield did a perfect job. Also I thought it was an even match between them and Theo and Van Ginkel. WithTheo coming up with the deciding pass I would even give the Vitesse pair the edge.

Bony's chances all came because of Marcelo/Derijck fvcking up.

Maybe Janssen's cross could have been prevented but the other two were Marcelo's and Derijck's fault.

Apart from the cross Janssen did shit all and van Ginkel should have been sent off so i can't see how you could give them the edge.

It could have been 10-2 on another day for us.

10-2? Sounds you're already close on the edge of that bridge. You should not have wasted your money on statementsignings Wijnaldum and Narsingh then.

I still see potential in Narsingh. He already made some progress in Eindhoven. He gets involved in the game more and more, and isn't just trying to give assists. Some more all-round.

But Wijnaldum.. well he is not worth talking about. He has all the conditions to shine. His favourite position with Van Bommel and Strootman behind him. And still.. bah.
