De Herdgang: PSV's Youth Academy

This thread can be used to discuss the PSV youth teams as well as the reserve team. I assume this will mean mainly talking about A1 and Jong PSV. Also we can talk about players that have come through the academy but are playing elsewhere: quite a few of those around.

I'll start of by saying that Cocu will officially take over A1 next season. It had been agreed upon before the season started and was confirmed by Brands last week.

PSV Netwerk today also reports that FC Eindhoven want to loan 7, yes 7! players from Jong PSV for next season. These are Maikel Verkoelen, Imad Najah, Stefano Marzo, Jason Bourdouxhe, Peter van Ooijen, Marco Ospitalieri and keeper Benjamin van Leer.

Not a bad thing at all imo. Mokhtar did well there this season and guys like Waalkens and Maikavala as well.

Good experience for the boys, but can't recall a player coming back from that loan and to shine at Eindhoven or at least another decent Eredivisie club.

Maybe Mokhtar will be the first as he has one more year on his contract.

Tbh these guys arnt the pick of the crop of Jong PSV apart from Verkoelen. Najah, Marzo and Bourdouxhe arnt young anymore while van Leer dosent even start. Ive never heard anything about van Ooijen and Ospitalieri.

Waalkens and Maikavala were no where near the first team either.

4 PSV-ers have been selected in the 18 man squad to participate in the U17 European Championship starting on Friday in Slovenia.

Riechedly Bazoer, Jorrit Hendrix, Rai Vloet and Bram van Vlerken are these 4 guys. I only know Hendrix as i remember seeing him in the Otten Cup at the beginning of the season, hes a CB but im not sure what the others are like.

Only Vilhena selected from Feyenoord

How do you like them apples, Krle?

Quality > quantity

Vilhena and Ake, stolen from Feyenoord, are the stars while the rest are there to make the numbers

Zakaria Bakkali signed a 3 year contract at PSV. He is known as our biggest talent. Big clubs like Man City also tried to sign him, so this is really nice;

This news is great. Great talent and Im always happy when youth players dont get stolen at such an age, regardless of which club.

Also the E1 won the league

The kid is only 16 years old though so way too early to be hyping him up as our biggest talent.

Good to hear those English thieving bastards didnt get him though, encouraging signs

He is going to train with the first squad in the preperation of the season. He also was chosen as the best player of the Nike Cup (with many, many players).

3 PSV'ers have been selected in the provisional squad for the U19 elite round qualifiers to kick off on the 25th of May.

These guys are Jetro Willems, Memphis Depay and Jurgen Locadia.

All 3 guys are expected to make it but Jetro is a doubt after being named in the Oranje provisional squad for the Euros.

France, Czech Republic and Norway the other teams in the group with all games taking place in Czech.

The A1. They reached the final last year, so they have a good chance of winning it.

Yeah, A1. Memphis Depay, Jurgen Locadia and Marcel Ritzmaier played in it among others last season

We reached the final last season losing 1-0 to Barcelona. We beat then 5-1 in the group stage so im not sure how that happened alm:

It must have been David Babunski to the rescue

17 year old Japanese defender Takuya Iwanami will join PSV A1 for a weeks trial, dependant on which he may get a contract.

He is a CB that plays for Vissel Kobe and has played for Japan's U19 side.

Just a recap of how all the youth teams fared this season:

Jong PSV - 3rd. 1 point off 2nd placed Ajax and 8 off FC Twente.

A1 - 5th and a long way off even 3rd

B1 - 3rd but yet again a long way off 2nd.

We had title victories in B2, C1, D1, D2, E1, E2, F1 and F2. Not that they all matter really

As we all know the Dutch U17's won the European Championships yesterday after winning a penalty shoot-out against the Germans

Late goals and clean sheets were a feature of this squad throughout the tournament.

The PSV-ers that were involved:

Rai Vloet: Midfielder that was nearly involved in all games, including the final. Scored against Slovenia.

Jorrit Hendrix: Ever present at CB in the tournament. Scored the winner against the Georgians.

Riechedly Bazoer: Also every present in the defence. Not sure if hes is a CB or a wing back.

Bram van Vlerken: The least involved by far. 0 appearances despite being on the bench the whole time. Defender.

All in all a great tournament for these young PSV A1'ers
