PSV in Europe 2011/12:No Boeren to be Found in Bucharest

Maybe im opening this thread for nothing as we may be knocked out of the EL on Thursday night but i just wanted to keep the European matches separate from the Eredivise ones for which i will create a thread after the Valencia match.

Valencia await us on the return of our Round of 16 tie. The game will be played on Thursday night 19:00 (CET). Valencia leads 4-2 on aggregate.

This will be the first game in charge for Cocu and Faber. I expect a reaction from both the players and the crowd. To say that we will go through would be a bit too optimistic but at least im hoping we will do better than in Spain.

Probable Starting XI:

Tyton

Manolev? - Derijck - Bouma - Pieters

Hutchinson - Strootman

Toivonen

Wijnaldum - Matavz - Mertens

Probably will see a similar game to last year's against Benfica. PSV will start fast and furious but once Valencia score, it will be over.

2-2 again

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Yeah I fear a similar scenario. A stunt would be great, but with the club in a spot of chaos, it's even more unlikely than it already was.

Try to score us some points anywho, eh?

Yeah I fear this thread will be a shortlived one.

If it werent for that late goal in the away game we'd be out allready however a 2-0 win secures us a next round spot, this shouldnt be impossible because Valencia's defense hasnt been so tight lately. However in our current state I'm not sure wherther we can get a result here.

I like your line up WB, but why is there a questionmark behind Manolev's name? Even though he is a disaster waiting to happen we sure as hell dont have any adequete replacement since The Hutchster is a DM in your line up.
Lets expect the worse and hope for the best

Just in case Cocu decides Ojo is a better RB than Manolev despite Funso not wanting to play that position

Hopefully Tamata will be back in the next couple weeks. In the current state we could use a player like him :rollani:

Nope. PSV wanted to get rid of him permanently (not on loan) in January but there were no takers.

Maybe Wuytens or even Engelaar will start in midfield so Stan the Man dosent play

Dont get your hopes up, I read a statement by Cocu that they wont be changing to much for the Valencia game

PSV watcher Rik Elfrink does think that Cocu swaps Labyad and Wijnaldum their positions.

Yeah, agreed.

I know that Cocu said he wont make major changes but some changes do have so be made clearly as things arnt going well.

What does Cocu have to lose anyway? He is definitely going to be there next season in any case.

There are no changes not even Hutchinson in the lineup while Im not sure whether Labyad and Wijnaldum have changed positions, but I dont think that is the case. It is logical to field an offensive lineup but Im a bit afraid. Lets hope for a shockeffect amongst the players.

Tyton
Manolev Marcelo Bouma Pieters
Wijnaldum Strootman
Toivonen
Labyad Matavz Mertens

Half Time:

PSV 0

Valencia 0

Missed the first 15 minutes as i slept in The game kicked off at 5am here.

We have been the better side in their first half but just that final ball is lacking is all. Toivonen had the best chance for us.

Valencia actually had the best chance of the game close to half time when Tyton denied Alba. They havent done much apart from that though.

HT

We have been slightly better but we didnt create any great chances while Valencia had a really good chance when Jordi Alba broke away from Manolev but Tyton made a pretty good save to keep it out of the net. Furthermore I dont think Valencia are playing at 100%. We had two good chance before the halftime break but I wouldnt say they were as good as Alba's chance. To bad we didnt put at least one of them in the net. Toivonens header could have gone in.

Cocu's looking pretty fit on the sidelines there, very nice dress sense.

Your keeper, bastard, great save.

He didnt deserve the card, he did nothing really. I think he plays very well today. Hopefully we get a clean sheet.
