Dutch clubs in Europe 2014-2015

In the middle of the World Cup and it has already started all over again!

Groningen have been drawn against the winner of Aberdeen from Scotland and some Latvian team in their second round qualifier.

Nice draw. Scotland or a nice capital in Western Eastern Europe.

Aberdeen win first leg 5-0 with Daugava having two players sent off and Aberdeen missed a penalty. Safe to say tht Groningen will be heading to Scotland! Interesting tie

Nice july game. Scots probably happy with Groningen as well once they discover it's the best place to drink till the next morning.

Any Dutch fans looking in, remember to get some Aitkens rowies while you're over here. You bunch will probably smother them in Nutella or some pish, but you'll appreciate them all the same. Also, don't bother thinking you'll be getting any romance, our birds are howling. You'd be better bringing some of your own. Take some weed with you too, it's legal over here and permitted in Pittodrie.

F**k me, it's quiet in Groningen this morning, I thought there'd be heaps of Dons fans going about here. I take it you're all arriving during the day?

Adam Rooney is one of their best players and he couldn't score goals for Oldham.

ha yeah. Same with Billy Mckay...scoring plenty for Inverness but scored like 13 goals in 75 games for Cobblers in League 2!

0-0 last night, whilst I was out anyway I was surprised there was no stream for the game.

Draw for third round today, and PSV's potential opponents are:
KF Laçi (ALB)/FC Zorya Luhansk (UKR)
Motherwell FC (SCO)/Stjarnan (ISL)
FK Metalurg Skopje (MKD)/FK Željezničar (BIH)
IF Brommapojkarna (SWE)/Crusaders FC (NIR)
FK AS Trenčín (SVK)/FK Vojvodina (SRB)
PFC Botev Plovdiv (BUL)/SKN St Pölten (AUT)

0-0 isn't bad, but not great either if Aberdeen get a goal in Groningen.

Got to hope Groningen manage to turn their own stadium into a fortress like in the Eredivisie. Rare for Dutch sides though in Europe nowadays.

Fortress European home matches only occur in the champions league I've noticed. What an atmosphere Feyenoord had when they played in that qualifier a couple of years ago!

As for the draw Groningen will face Real Sociedad if they beat Aberdeen. Another short adventure for the play off winner then

PSV will play either Plovdiv of Bulgaria or that Austrian team.

for real? oh ffs alm:

Feyenoord - Dynamo Kiev. I don't remember it that well

Feyenoord - Kuban Krasnodar last year in our one EL game . I was on holiday, but de Kuip was rocking from what I saw. Hadn't seen that for some time.

Feyenoord - Newcastle United is the best I think I've seen de Kuip in a CL game. The game where Bellamy struck a few times.

Oh yeah the Krasnador Europa League game was an atmosphere and a half
I hope we see something similar this time round too!

When was the last time a play off team made it to the group stages? I recall Utrecht playing in them 6-7 years ago but I have no idea if they made it via playoff qualification.

So Feyenoord to face Besiktas, no clue how strong they are, but I think Feyenoord will definitely be eliminated in the last qualification round looking at the possible opponents.

As for PSV it shouldn't be a problem but after last season's disaster nothing can be said about it I guess?

Finally if Groningen manages to beat Aberdeen I can't see them getting past Erreala.

We reached the group phase after beating KF Tirana, Luzern and Celtic. Just four years ago.

NEC did it too in 2008 but they just had to beat Dinamo Bucharest to reach the group stage. It was called UEFA Cup back then.

That was the 2002 game p

Was thinking about the game in 2012 against Ideye Brown, Yarmolenko and friends. 0-1 from a Brown counter towards the end. I was there but a game I hardly remember anything about lol
