Jupiler League 2012/13

Here's one transfer to set this off.

Arsenal reserves striker Rhys Murphy on a free transfer to Telstar

De Graafschap I guess will be the team to beat.

Relegation is all up to the promotion wishes of the Topklasse teams and so far they haven't had that ambition.

Nice piece of countryswitching btw from Rhys Murphy. First playing for the Ireland U-15 then the English U-16, U-17 and U-19 before going back to the land of Guiness.

De Graafschap have lost quite a few players so I'm not so sure if they are the team to beat. They need to bring in some goals then to make up for the loss of Poepon and De Leeuw.

Yes, there were talks about interest from the Bundesliga but in the end he went to ADO.

Did you guys keep up with the 'Tweede Divisie' story?

It's not about Topklasse teams not wanting to go up, it's just it's not responsible for these clubs in their current styles to meet the license criteria. If they'll go up and will meet these criteria, most of them will be bankrupt in a few seasons. We can just be happy most amateur teams have got a far better policy than several professional clubs and don't make stupid decisions like KNVB will force them to now.

Because of the Topklasse teams don't want to go up, because of KNVB won't lower the criteria, KNVB started threatening them with a so called 'Tweede Divisie' formed by mostly second teams of professional clubs, like Ajax 2, Feyenoord 2, PSV 2 etc. Like in Germany for example.
That would kill the amateurs because after two seasons, fans prefer to play versus 'real' teams instead of these reserves who don't bring fans.

Anyway back ontopic, it's very likely also next season no team will go up from Topklasse, never say never, but I can't see it happen yet. If they want to meet the KNVB-criteria, they still need a few seasons.

The schedule, funny to see MVV-Fortuna on the last day, but it won't be a match for the title anyway .

Apparently he is a Belgian youth international, played 34 times last season for Dender scoring 2 goals.

Nope, he never signed a deal with us.

He was just training with us until he found a club as he was a free agent after his time with Roda. That club turned out to be STVV.

MVV have signed 28 year old midfielder, Nathan Rutjes from Sparta Rotterdam on a 3 year contract which looks to be a direct replacement for our 'now' ex-captain Tom Daemen who leaves MVV signing for AEK Larnaca on a two year deal.

Behind the scenes at De Guesselt the board are trying to convince last seasons top scorer Rajcomar (a.k.a. the ego has landed) to stay with the club. I do hope he stays as his goals would be truly missed but cant help thinking that his ego goes before him and this can cause problems within the dressing room. Meanwhile the board have successfully negotiated a deal with Michael La Rosa to keep him in Maastricht for the next 2 years. He scored six goals last season and is a useful player to have.

Jupiler League 2012/2013

Two days ago it already started, here the results.

Round 1
FC Oss - FC Den Bosch 2-1
FC Volendam - SC Cambuur 1-2
Fortuna Sittard - AGOVV Apeldoorn 1-1
Almere City FC - Go Ahead Eagles 0-2
Sparta Rotterdam - SC Veendam 2-1
De Graafschap - Excelsior 2-0
Telstar - Helmond Sport 1-2
FC Eindhoven - MVV Maastricht 2-3
FC Emmen - FC Dordrecht 1-1

Most surprising results to me were the away victories of MVV and Cambuur, they're both normally very strong at home but quite weak away, if they can continue doing well away and perform as usual at home they can both surprise this season.

De Graafschap has beaten Excelsior in the battle between the two teams who were in Eredivisie last season, however no one did Excelsior expect to win there.

For me it's hard to say, but I think Sparta and De Graafschap are the biggest favourites for the title, with Excelsior, Helmond, Cambuur, MVV and Eagles being interesting outsiders. Don't know about Den Bosch, Volendam and Eindhoven who were strong last season, we'll wait and see.

MVV were 2-1 down with 3 minutes to go, wild cebelrations in the 'uitvak' when we equalised then Esajas scored a beautiful curling winner into the top corner to win the game 2-3 in injury time. Harry Houdini escape

Brilliant, love those traditional Limburgse folk songs, even if it's from down south! The comment below the clip is also fabulous!

btw, wasn't back home last friday, but I reckon RTL didn't show the summaries on TV?
Guess that was just because of the Olympics, and they'll start next friday? Otherwise I'd be really disappointed...
