Team of the season 2011/12

Even though we have one more game left, we allready know who is champion. Who will battle for second spot and most teams that will play in playoffs.

Therefor I decided to open this thread. Post your team of the season guys:

Zoet(RKC)
Van Rhijn?(Ajax) Van Eijden(NEC) Vertonghen(Ajax) Poulsen(AZ)/Conboy(NEC)
Clasie(Feyenoord) Strootman(PSV)/Elm(AZ)
Djuricic(Heerenveen)
Narsingh(Heerenveen) De Jong(Twente) Mertens(PSV)

Only position Im not sure if RB. There simply wasnt any outstanding RB in the league.

Coach: Ronald Koeman

Bench:
Babos(NEC), Kalas(Vitesse), Conboy/Poulsen, El Ahmadi(Feyenoord), Eriksen(Ajax), Maher(AZ), John(Twente), Dost(Heerenveen) and Lens(PSV)

Honorable mention to Sno(RKC), Overtoom(Heracles), Tadic(Groningen), Schone& Foor(NEC), Wildschut(VVV), Bony(Vitesse), Anita(Ajax), Guidettie(Feyenoord), Toivonen(PSV)

Yeah, this thread is easily applicable. One game wont change everyones thoughts on who is better/best etc.

I would go for something like this:

Zoet (RKC)

Leerdam (Fey) - Vlaar (Fey) - Verthongen (Ajax) - Poulsen (AZ)

Elm (AZ) - Strootman (PSV)

Djuricic (Hveen)

John (Twente) - Dost (Hveen) - Mertens (PSV)

Bench: Velthuizen (Vitesse), Aldeweireld (Ajax), Moisander (AZ), Clasie (Fey), Eriksen (Ajax), Narsingh (Hveen) and de Jong (Twente)

Only 1 Ajax player on the starting lineup I think this title is really a testament to their team work and depth tbh which is the classiest way you can win a title. Eriksen and Aldeweireld were really close for me but Djuricic's stats are unbelievable and i think Vlaar has been Feyenoord's MVP this season.

Otherwise i think not too many controversial calls made by me

Michailov (Twente)
Leerdam (Fey) - Kalas (Vitesse) - Vertonghen (Ajax) - Willems (PSV)
Elm (AZ) - Strootman (PSV)
Eriksen (Ajax)
Narsingh (H'veen) - De Jong Twente) - Mertens (PSV)

Bench: Esteban (AZ), Marcelo (PSV) , Poulsen (AZ), Clasie (Fey), Djuricic (H'veen), Labyad (PSV) and Dost (H'veen)

Do you want me to edit the thread title? Because right now it's a prediction thread.

The thing with Ajax is that they have been rotating players way to much to pick a lot of players. Only players that have played most games are Vermeer, Vertonghen, Ailderweireld, Anita, Eriksen and De Jong. De Jong and Anita have been playing in two positions during the season while Vermeer hasnt been outstanding. I reckon Vertonghen will be everyones pick and that Anita and Eriksen are a choice of prefrence. I choose Fica in front of Eriksen obviously because of bias but also because I sincerly believe he had a better season. Djuricic has been outstanding not only do his stats prove it but he was also involved in a lot of goals. For example Against Twente he gave an amazing through pass to Gouweleeuw who assisted Assaidi. There are a lot of goals where he lanches Narsingh with a good through ball who sets up Dost and he only has to put it in the net. As for Anita or Clasie, I went for Clasie because he has been performing more constantly. Clasie has been great throughout the season while I feel Anita has delivered in the second half of the season.

Zoet

Van Rhijn | Gouweleeuw | Vertonghen | Poulsen

Eriksen | Clasie | Djuricic

Narsingh | De Jong | John
  • Zoet: the obvious choice.
  • Van Rhijn: Because I'm biased. Also, the only other rb that really stood out was Janmaat and he was injured for a long time. Van Rhijn replaced Van der Wiel and never looked back from day 1.
  • Gouweleeuw: the big defensive talent to emerge this season, together with Van Dijk. But where the latter's level dropped further in the season, Gouweleeuw remained stable (apart from his mistake against Ajax) and made a great duo with Zomer.
  • Vertonghen: duh.
  • Poulsen: his best season at AZ, attacked like Dani Alves and also managed to keep his usual defensive errors to a minimum.
  • Eriksen: It was a toss up between him and El Ahmadi but I chose Christian because of his offensive contributions. El Ahmadi still needs to score more and provide more assists. Other than that he's had a brilliant season too.
  • Clasie: had a hard time choosing between him or Elm but I chose Clasie because I think it's a bigger achievement to win a place in a poor team like Feyenoord were in the beginning of the season and be the main reason their midfield functions again.
  • Djuricic: see Krajo's post.
  • Narsingh: who else? Best rw in the league.
  • De Jong: Despite scoring a bit less than Dost I think De Jong is the better player and has had a great season. Even though he was played out of position and Twente were terrible most of the time.
  • John: One of the big surprises this season. Very talented winger who played a lot of matches and generally performed very well. Quick, two-footed, good dribbler, good crosses, good technique.

Will try and do mine now, have to admit that I hardly watched any game this season.

Zoet

Van Rhijn - Nuytink - Vertonghen - Büttner

Sno

Clasie - El Ahmadi

Maher

John - Mertens

Zoet: From the goalkeepers I have seen so far he made the best impression on me.
Van Rhijn: Think I said on his debut that he easily replaced Van der Wiel. Hardly missed Greg this season. Oranje contender.
Nuytink: Impressive defender for this league, the big clubs would be crazy not to spend big bucks on him. Very mature with his defending.
Vertonghen: Outgrown the league, **** off to England please.
Büttner: When I watched a match of Vitesse he stood out the most to me.
Sno: Leader of a weak team and took them to a 9th place.
Clasie: Haven't seen a fighter like him since Davids.
El Ahmadi: Cursed at last season but what a comeback he has made
Maher: One of the big talented midfielders in the league this season.
John: Impressive since his debut, the confidence in his play, especially in Europe.
Mertens: Maybe not the best character but he is a much better player on his position than Jewjak was for PSV and could touch the legend status of Robben or Zenden with another season like this.

Best XI according to De Telegraaf:

Ten Rouwelaar

Kashia - Vlaar - Verthongen - Poulsen

Eriksen - Clasie - Elm

Narsingh - Dost - Mertens

I think its based on who got the most appearances on their best XI of the week section.

You can take the telegraaf with a pinch of salt. Ten rouwelaar

I've decided to add my team of the season simply because of the fact that there is no RB that deserves to be in this list:

Zoet
Kalas Van Eijden Vertonghen
Clasie
Maher Elm Djuricic
Narsingh De Jong Mertens
