Champions - Who will win it this time?

The most important question for the remainder of the season. Who will lift the plate in May. For the winterbreak AZ looked like the best contender, but they collapsed in December and also lost points after the break leaving it wide open again. Twente now the current favourite after putting aside PSV so easily last week, but it can change by the round...

Standing on 10/03/2012:

Code:
1 AZ 24 15 4 5 49 51 - 25
2 FC Twente 23 14 6 3 48 65 - 25
3 PSV 24 14 6 4 48 62 - 34
4 Ajax 24 13 7 4 46 63 - 33
5 SC Heerenveen 24 12 9 3 45 52 - 34
6 Feyenoord 24 13 5 6 44 48 - 31

It's hard to say, everybody can still become the champion. Ajax is coming back, and the players with an injury are nearly recovered. Twente is well balanced en has good players and PSV has really good players, but they are no 'team'. AZ is a dangerous outsider. I would say it like this in percentages:

Twente 30 pct chance
Ajax 25 pct chance
PSV 25 pct chance
AZ 20 pct chance

But, the favourite for the titel changes every week, so we will see. :P

I cant bet against my boys, especially with 10 rounds to go.

Twente for me are the most balanced team, that dosent necessarily mean they are the best though.

Ajax at 25%? Cmon they barely have a hope. With the amount of injuries theyve had this season it will be a disgrace if they become champions (no disrespect to Ajax but to all the other contenders)

Why don't we have a hope? Only two points behind you guys and the last few seasons we have had a much better second round than you guys. PSV's collapse still has to come.

Ajax has the easiest schedule by some margin. You can't rule them out yet.

I think we'll know a lot more come mid-April, with these rounds having been played:

Code:
Tue 10 April Heerenveen - Ajax
Wed 11 April AZ - FC Twente
Wed 11 April RKC Waalwijk - PSV

Sat 14 April PSV - AZ
Sat 14 April Twente - NAC Breda
Sun 15 April Ajax - De Graafschap
The schedules per club are like this:

AZ | De Graafschap (A), NAC Breda (H), RKC Waalwijk (H), Vitesse (A), FC Twente (H), PSV (A), VVV Venlo (H), Feyenoord (A), NEC Nijmegen (A), FC Groningen (H).

FC Twente | NEC Nijmegen (A), Feyenoord (H), De Graafschap (A), ADO Den Haag (A), Roda JC (H), AZ (A), NAC Breda (H), Excelsior (A), Ajax (H), Heerenveen (H), VVV Venlo (A).

PSV | NAC Breda (A), Heerenveen (H), Ajax (A), VVV Venlo (H), RKC Waalwijk (A), AZ (H), NEC Nijmegen (H), Roda JC (A), ADO Den Haag (H), Excelsior (A).

Ajax | RKC Waalwijk (H), ADO Den Haag (A), PSV (H), Heracles Almelo (H), Heerenveen (A), De Graafschap (H), FC Groningen (H), FC Twente (A), VVV Venlo (H), Vitesse (A).

Ajax the easiest schedule? They face PSV, Twente, Heerenveen which are really good team than they have Groningen, Vitesse, Heracles who are capable of causing an upset while RKC is a though nut to crack but still very duable and Graafschap, VVV and Ado are easy.

Meanwhile PSV faces only AZ and Heerenveen from the top 6 and for the rest there arent any teams that are so good as for example Vitesse and Grun. PSV definitly has the easiest schedule while Twente's isnt tougher than Ajax's neither. They face 4 good team but the rest is pretty easy.

Looking at this schedule Im saying PSV.

Yeah, couldnt agree more with Krajo

If anything us and Twente have the easiest schedule while Ajax and AZ have the hardest!

Slag has been smoking some of that good stuff recently i gather

Just because you are basically playing with your second string team. If you had all 11 on the field then i would say youve got a chance definitely. I know guys like Boeilson, vd Wiel, Sigi, Boerrigter are coming back but its a question to how they will perform.

Plus i think you guys and AZ have a harder schedule than us and Twente.

I admit im being bias in saying that we will win the Eredivisie. With Rutten and our second half of the season syndrome approaching and our NAC Breda standard defence its a long shot that we'll win it. But its football and anything can happen (apart from Ajax winning the Eredivisie this season ).

Twente are the team in red hot form, the best attack, the most balanced team in general and a relatively favourable run in. If they dont win it, it will be very disappointing imo I just want us to play CL football next season :hopeful:

We probably wont win one game until the end of the season anyway, not need to worry.

Started this conversation in the FC Twente-Feyenoord thread but it was a bit off topic there so i'll post it here.

How does everyone rate the top 6 by each department of the teams, based purely on this seasons performances and not on paper?

Attack:

1. Twente
2. Heerenveen
3. PSV
4. Feyenoord
5. Ajax
6. AZ

Midfield:

1. AZ
2. Twente
3. Ajax
4. PSV
5. Feyenoord
6. Heerenveen

Defence (including GK):

1. Feyenoord
2. AZ
3. Ajax
4. Twente
5. Heerenveen
6. PSV

I refuse to fill the poll as it's the team I don't want to win the league.

Honestly i dont think we can count Heerenveen as being in the title race anymore. Not just because you might think im cocky after yesterday but they still have to play Ajax and Feyenoord (H) and Twente (A). Plus NEC and Heracles away as well. Tough schedule.

All teams have an easy round next weekend bar the Ajax-PSV game of course.

AZ I think...

However FC Twente could make up for their slip ups.

PSV will be more determined than all the sides, we'll probably see another 5-0 again..

6 rounds to go and Ajax have become the league leaders (for the first time this season?) after Round 28.

The Man Utd of the Eredivisie, proving they can smash any mid to lower league team 5-0 but struggle against the big boys

Here are the remaining schedules for the top 6:

AZ
FC Twente (H)
PSV (A)
VVV Venlo (H)
Feyenoord (A)
NEC Nijmegen (A)
FC Groningen (H)

Ajax
Heerenveen (A)
De Graafschap (H)
FC Groningen (H)
FC Twente (A)
VVV Venlo (H)
Vitesse (A)

PSV
RKC Waalwijk (A)
AZ (H)
NEC Nijmegen (H)
Roda JC (A)
ADO Den Haag (H)
Excelsior (A)

FC Twente
AZ (A)
NAC Breda (H)
Excelsior (A)
Ajax (H)
Heerenveen (H)
VVV Venlo (A)

Feyenoord
Roda JC (A)
Excelsior (H)
ADO Den Haag (A)
AZ (H)
Heracles (H)
Heerenveen (A)

Heerenveen
Ajax (H)
NEC Nijmegen (A)
Vitesse (H)
Heracles (A)
Twente (A)
Feyenoord (H)

Still a lot of blockbusters left starting with AZ-Twente and Heerenveen-Ajax this coming weekend. Twente-Ajax, Twente-Heerenveen, PSV-AZ, Feyenoord-AZ and Heerenveen-Feyenoord all to be played.

We have the easiest schedule by some margin but then again we are not Ajax and we do struggle beating the crap teams. Therefore i think 020 will be champions again as they do have an easier schedule than both AZ and Twente.

I'm only looking at my own club and I see a crucial week with Twente and PSV in the space of 4 days. Whatever happens then will decide it for us.
