Either Utrecht or Groningen for me. Utrecht for their fans (their 'helemaal niets in a'dam' was so loud it became inspiring ) or Groningen because of Ron Jans, a coach I like. On paper Jans and his boys are huge favourites looking at the previous meetings this season, but who knows.

Also can't see Roda beating Heracles.

We cheered louder for Twente's goals than our own verus Vitesse...

We'll play five times against Groningen this season, the three previous games ended not too good for us.
FC Utrecht - FC Groningen 2-4 (Cup 2nd round)
FC Utrecht - FC Groningen 1-1
FC Groningen - FC Utrecht 0-0

Also last season in the playoffs we were chanceless (3-3 in Utrecht & 4-0 in Groningen), just like two seasons ago (2-0 & 3-1), just like three seasons ago (0-3 & 2-1)

Don't know, they won six of their last eight matches and have also beaten Heracles at home and just lost narrow in Almelo (3-2)

Junker to fire Roda into the Europa League

Haven't really followed it all lately but Utrecht's form lately hasn't so great right?

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

23 points out of 17 games in 2010. With Heracles having 24 (from 16) and the others EL contenders Roda JC and Groningen have 30 and 32.

I want either Heracles or Utrecht. Heracles because i want to see them frustrate teams in Europe on their artificial pitch or Utrecht because i think they have the most chances of sustaining if not improving their team next year (why i choose them over Roda and Groningen).

Van Wolfsshop has to start scoring for them then otherwise Utrecht wouldn't bring in much points either. Groningen without Jans looks a lot less to me. Not to convinced about Huistra as new coach.

Not a single side of these four has got any chance in Europe because it has to enter in the second qualification round, compare it with NAC this season...

Surviving two rounds is the absolute maximum...

However, not that I mind three European trips...

Heracles-Utrecht for a European ticket?

Congrats on the first match Knoert, good luck in the second!

Yes!
How important might that third goal turn out to be?

We'll see on sunday. I had Groningen as winner of the ticket so a surprise that they lost by this margin in stadium just filled for a third.

Has that been so low in the past too? And what's the reason? You don't want to play European football?

Well we managed to qualify for the Intertoto Cup in 2007 after four playoff draws in a row .

Don't know about the reason, just like this season it's getting worse and worse near the end of the season which makes us chanceless versus teams who're in form during the playoffs...
Yesterday it wasn't that bad, both Utrecht and Groningen attacked and played to score a goal, we were lucky to score that last goal, a deflected shot.

Think this is the last possibility in a while to qualify for Europe for us I think because I think we loose a EL or CL spot next season?

We'll have to ask our UEFA-expert Slag for that. If we'll lose a spot you can always move the play-offs spots on place higher, so 4 till 7. Which isn't strange if you see the difference in points between place 3 and 4 now.

That means the playoffs won't disappear no matter how many spots we have?

It's a political decision. The Bobo's at the KNVB never really admitted the play-offs were a complete failure. The only reason we still have some play-offs left is so the Bobo's could save face. After all, the playoffs didn't fail and they weren't abolished, they were simply revised.

With this kind of political compromise, I expect the remaining play-offs to fade away in the next few years. The scene has been prepared for them to be removed without any embarrassment for Kesler and his friends.
