09/10 Season preview

So, what do you guys think about the new season? Tbh I haven't got a clue what we've got coming, but I'm pretty sure it'll be very interesting and exciting.
  • Expect Ajax to attack a lot and concede a lot of goals, although with Jol we'll surely add some more realism to our game which could actually help us concede 2 in stead of 3 every match.
  • I think AZ will suffer from their CL campaign, not being active in Europe was a big factor in their title last season. Of course having Koeman as their manager will also help them to suck
  • It remains to be seen how FC Groningen will cope with loosing Berg but I expect them to be a tough opponent anyway. No top 5 finish for them though.
  • FC Twente has done some good business on the transfer market with Akram and Ruiz. They've also got some talented youngsters coming through. It'll remain to be seen if Arnautovic and Elia can be replaced like that though.
  • Feyenoord definitely has done some good business and with Been and his man management skills they'll be a force to reckon with. No title material yet imo, but we'll most likely see them have a decent run.
  • Heerenveen will battle with Groningen and Utrecht for 6th spot. Their defensive inability will come back to haunt them although I do look forward to Janmaat's final steps to a starting spot.
  • Heracles will have a tough time as usual, their squad isn't complete yet but Verbeek really is a great manager for them and he'll do pretty good. Narrow finish outside the nacompetitie spot for them.
  • NAC hardly reinforced their aging squad and after 2 great seasons will suffer, no Europa league for them.
  • NEC will have a tough time as well. Overrated new manager and hardly any reinforcements = narrow escape from nacompetitie.
  • PSV have added some experience to their squad although it'll remain to be seen if Ooijer will stay fit and cope with expectations. Engelaar - Afellay - Simons is a great midfield though, I expect Afellay to score a lot of goals and make his final steps this season. Top 2 finish for them surely.
  • RKC have got some Eredivisie worthy players but of course will have a hard time in avoiding direct relegation. I expect them to narrowly finish ahead of VVV.
  • Roda will have a bad season but will avoid direct relegation with betonvoetbal and a lot of luck. Expect them to hoof it up to van Tornhout and pray for a goal by Junker.
  • Sparta have done some good business with acquiring Boakye and have got some talented players coming through. Adelaar will make sure they'll play some nice, attacking football but they have a small squad. I expect a mid table finish.
  • Vitesse. Bos will make them play pretty defensive I reckon and they'll finish pretty low on the chart.
  • VVV will finish last, based on their squad I just can't see them do that good this season.
  • Willem II: If Demouge manages to find his feet again, they'll avoid direct relegation.

1: Ajax.
2: PSV
3: AZ
4: Feyenoord
5: Twente
6: SC Heerenveen
7: FC Groningen
8: FC Utrecht
9: NAC
10: Vitesse
11: Sparta
12: NEC
13: Heracles
14: ADO
15: Roda
16: Willem II
17: VVV
18: RKC

Gentenaar and Patrick Paauwe? and most importantly not to forget, Kazayuki Honda?

RKC look like they'll be having a tough time. No signings and no players most would recognize.

My prediction:

1. Feyenoord
2. FC Twente
3. Ajax
4. AZ
5. PSV
6. SC Heerenveen
7. FC Utrecht
8. NAC
9. FC Groningen
10. NEC
11. Heracles
12. Vitesse
13. Roda JC
14. VVV
15. ADO
16. Willem II
17. Sparta
18. RKC

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

Yep, you're absolutely right about VVV, how could I forget about the players you mentioned Although Paauwe of course is past it. I've changed my prediction accordingly.

I'm not gonna do Styg's bullet point routine cause I don't know much about most of the Eredivisie sides around so I'd just look silly.

Key points: we'll suffer on account of being in Europe (where is that right back, Brands? ) and Ajax will do slightly better on account of De Zeeuw. Twente to slump a little for having lost Elia and that other dude who was good, while PSV should struggle to find second gear for a while.

Feyenoord I don't know, keeper looks good at least.

1. Ajax (hakken over de sloot)
2. AZ
3. Feyenoord
4. FC Twente
5. PSV
6. FC Utrecht
7. FC Groningen
8. sc Heerenveen (finishing below FCG that's how I like it)
[copypaste from Styg]
9: NAC
10: Vitesse
11: Sparta
12: NEC
13: Heracles
14: ADO
15: Roda
16: Willem II
17: VVV
18: RKC
[/copypaste from Styg]

Like I said I don't take an active interest in all the cannon fodder down there

I'm quite sure about VVV, with Honda they'll stay up avoiding the playoffs, without Honda they'll relegate, no matter how.

Have said that before the season already, not just because of yesterday...

Yesterday he just showed the nation what a star he is but last season he was just as good.

Just to make a prediction;

1. PSV
2. FC Twente
3. AZ
4. Ajax
5. SC Heerenveen
6. FC Utrecht
7. Feyenoord
8. FC Groningen
9. NAC
10. Roda JC
11. Heracles Almelo
12. Vitesse
13. Sparta Rotterdam
14. NEC
15. VVV-Venlo
16. Willem II
17. RKC Waalwijk
18. ADO Den Haag

Swerts in the CL? No, come on. He can cut it on Eredivisie level but let's not get carried away here.

Owww, NSFW!
Lucky I've not eaten yet.

I'll be bouncing this thread on Sunday 25th April next year, when PSV have just drawn at the DSB to deny you third place.
:smileani:
You said it yourself, you'll suffer from playing CL football.

We're also the only team who've proven last year we can cope with longterm injuries to key players (Dembélé, anyone?) and all the other guys should be caught up in the prestigious Europa League long enough as well.

Cue Feyenoord to have a say

Ok, we finished 6th under Van Marwijk lol when we also didn't play in Europe but now, our squad's so big that even guys like Slory have to sit in the stands. Unthinkable last season

But you've got Koeman as coach
