Ya i see us beating korea and Us and tying Portugal. I don't know why people all of a sudden have put portugal into the same category of France/Argentina. They are not that good. Who knows, maybe we will win all three games.

As to whether we can go to quarters? Sure. look at our draw. We won't face Brazil, Argentina, or france until the semi's or final. In our half there is Italy and Spain as the favourites. We will play Italy, Mexico or Croatia in the second round. Italy would be the toughest of the three, but none are pushovers. However, i'd rather face those teams, than England, France, Brazil, Argentina. If we play well we can go very far.

I give Poland 80% ch. to be in1/8
Than,if we play against Italy I give us 15% to be in 1/4.
If we play with Croatia ro Mexico we have 51% chance.

Four central defenders?

Ok, let's say Hajto may play as a right back, but what about the left side?

klos, waldoch, hajto, zewlakow is more like it, i dont see how you can also leave out kozminski and krychu and put in smolarek who is basically a little kid and gilewicz who has already had his chance.

35% chance of advancing.

The fact we're there is enough for me

Poland can advance. We can beat The U.S. and Korea, those matches will certainly be easier than Portugal. Barlinek man, how can you say that Portugal are not that good? Figo, Nuno Gomes, Conceicao, Baia, Couto, Costa, Simao, they have a great midfield, among the best. Personally, I think that Poland will finish 2nd, and will advance. But beating Portugal, I'm not too sure about that..

Slawek,

I didn't say Portugal can't go that far, i said that they are not Argentina's or France's calibre.

Yes they have a great midfield, but the goalie and strickers are suspect. Those in my opinion are key. It takes one blunder by a goalie, and one missed chance to lose a game.

Its not enough to dominate midfield (i.e. Romanie vs. Slowakia, amongst countless other examples, but the key is to convert the few chances one may have.)

I really do give us the edge in goal, and maybe upfront. That may be the difference, or it may not be. We will see.

I predict this:

Poland 2-1 Korea
Poland 1-1 Portugal
Poland 2-0 USA

Portugal
Poland
- - - - - - -
Korea
USA

OK, maybe you're right. However, in Euro2000, Portugal did play well against France. I believe it was a penalty that did them in, I like watching them play. Baia did have his moments, but other than him, I don't know who will replace him? Esquinha? Delfim? OK, Portugal did lack a centre forward, players admitted it themselves, and with our talent up front, it will make the macth-ups interesting. In goal, yes, Dudek is among the best, he is still relatively young, and proven. I would agree and say that Poland have the edge there.

Of course, we will have to wait a bit to find out

I think that Poland like in 1974 will come in the world cup looking like it's all good for nuthin' but it might do some damage.it might be "the black horse"

i do think that Portugal will win that confrontation. It will be a close game though, like a 1:0 or 2:1, or maybe a 3:2 (dat would be a good game). They have the edge in Figo. He is a midfielder, but he can score as well. Don't forget that. I do think that we have the edge over USA and Korea, more over the USA because of the home advantage Korea have. I still think that we will advance in 2nd place. After that, i don't give us much chance vs Italy. As long as we make, its all good.
