Ernst Wilimowski?

When all the lights go out forever
Somewhere near the end of time
The noise will pass and the dust will settle
And you'll be on my mind

Kazimierz Deyna.

Grzegorz Lato was fantastic striker, but he totally ruined own legend by the being probably the most terrible Polish Football Federation's chairman ever. He's the zero without any honor, even when the videos with Lato's voice which is wondering about the offers of corruption flowed to the media, he's totally not considering to demit - it was several days ago btw.

There's popular song on the Polish stadiums now, which describes him pretty well - "Byłeś legendą, zostałeś sprzedajną mendą", what means "You were a legend, but you became a venal scum".

Lubanski without a doubt. The problem is he never got to play in any big tournament while at 100%, but talk to anyone who has ever played against him and they will tell you that his speed and technique were light years ahead of virtually anyone, in the whole world, in the early 1970's. His injury, easy to treat nowadays was unfortunately damning back then.

Of course Deyna, Lato or Boniek (even Szarmach or Gorgon or Zmuda) did more for the Polish NT than Lubanski, because they suceeded in bringing home the hardware. But as an an individual player Lubanski was the best.

As for Wilimowski, well, maybe. He certainly did well in Italy '38 against Brazil. But then again he became something of a persona non grata of Polish soccer for having represented the Third Reich during the war (believe it or not there was a Third Reich team during WWII which played against vassal states such as Norway and against neutrals.

Szarmach's invidual talent was also immense, as well as Boniek's...But one other very gifted player not yet mentioned was Robert Gadocha.
