UEFA "fair play"

Got a bit irritated after this but apparently Uefa is busy punishing Bendtner for underwear sponsor revealing during his celebrations. Very fast to act.

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...afe920ec0473c6

In the meantime...Russia and Poland fans fighting in streets, Balotelli was thrown with banana in the game against Horvatia and was racially abused. I saw fireworks thrown on to the pitch in two games.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/eur...v-Croatia.html

Before the tournament, Balotelli suggested in media that he would consider leaving the pitch if racially abused. Platini himself then came out with a statement that players would be punished/shown a card or even point punishment if they would leave the pitch.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/eur...m-protest.html

Uefa will probably in the end of the tournament go with the usual "it has been a success" etc etc. Ignoring their fair play campaign when it really matters.

And the result is...

The Russian FA gets a fine of 30,000 Euros (Hooliganism)

The Croatian FA gets a fine of 25,000 Euros (Racism)

Nicklas Bendtner gets a fine of 100,000 Euros plus one match ban for showing his pants with a different sponsor from UEFA's one.

Fair-play UEFA's style.

Because this is totally unfair. That guy isn't Messi, who could pay it easily. It is a huge money. And even then, 100 000 euros for wrong label???? Jesus, like North- Korea, why don't we just shoot the guy

Nice to see that classless moneygrubbing is punished.

I don't want to see players with advertisement doodles all over them, like in boxing.

It's not like Bendtner was wearing his favorite Bum boxers and accidentally showed it to the World. It was a deliberate act of promoting a gambling site.

lol good to see uefa has their priorities straight :rollani:

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

Indeed. And UEFA is actually helping Bendtner's underwear sponsor get a lot more attention this way. Good job, UEFA.

Yada, yada

Nothing much to add from what you guys said. Indeed annoying to know this actually is official. No criteria (actually there is, the interests, plain and simple).

It is understandable that Uefa should look after their interests and it should also defend their sponsors (since they pay a lot of money in the competition) but protecting their interests has nothing to do with punishing the player this way. As biancoceleste said, they gave more visibility to Bendtner´s underwear sponsor (and certainly they will work on a commercial that uses this decision).

Paddy Power already payed Bendtners fine, so i guess they had planned it into their expenses.

Funny thing is that Ladbrokes is the official sponsor of Danish football team so i guess they are a bit pissed.

Btw, if there is any, but who is the official bookmaker for UEFA ? Im guessing they might have some official partner in that field as those buggers are pretty rich.

80,000 euro fine for racial abuse/chants/symbols (Balotelli) to the Croatian F.A.

100,000 euro fine + one match ban for sporting PaddyPower pants.

Nice to see UEFA has their priorities in order
