Greece - Czech Rep (Tuesday 18H00 Cet)

Greece - Czech Republic
Wroclaw - 12/06/2012

Already day 2 of the group stage. Greece came back from hell after their opening game against Poland, but the central defense will be quite new.

Czech Republic got hammered by the mighty Russians and have to win that one.

What is it with you morons? This is Euro 2012. What is it that you expect to see on screen? One of the Euro 2012 babes sucking your dick?

This is a massive game for Greece and Czech Republic. Both teams MUST win to stand any chance of progressing.

This will be the best game yet.

pretty much a must win game for both teams, Czechs need to improve massively but I don't think the Greeks will pose too much offensive threat as the Russians did

Reports are that Greece starting XI will be

Chalkias
Torosidis - Katsou - Kyriakos - Holebas
Maniatis - Makos - Karagounis
Salpi - Gekas/Samaras - Fortounis

The midfield would be way better if Ninis was there centrally but hey, I guess Santos is too conservative to even try that
Fortounis was very active in the last game and offered alot of creativity, one assist to the penalty and one assist to the offside goal by Salpi in the last game. Gekas vs Samaras, one can score, other can hold the ball but can't score for shit...

I just don't understand. Why do the Greeks save the best players? What are they being saved for? Especially since 4-3-3 the main formation now.

Fefatzidis, Ninis and Sapangidis really should be playing.

Nice to see Fortunis there.

I'm not too sure on having Salpi as a central striker in a 4-3-3, I think he's not really ideal for it but he offers more than Gekas atleast... Samaras can be there and do decent at times, he ha atleast some technical skills to hold the ball but otherwise, he's complete shit

Katsou can play as CB but not too sure there, we have Malezas there aswell but let's see...

Fotakis could play.

I am concerned with our backline, with A.Pap and Sokratis out. I`ve seen Katsouranis fill in in this role many times before, but IMO he is not the greatest.

I do not like the midfield at all. I see no real creativity there. I hope this is not the lineup which Santos goes with. I cannot see out midfield creating enough pressure like this. There`s really no excuse at this point in not playing Fetfatzidis and or Ninis alongside Karagounis (who will always start  ), which might not have been the case had Kara scored the penalty since there would have been less pressure in this match to get all 3pts. The positives I see are Fortounis who really impressed me in his short stint against Poland and Salpiggidis who is hot.

I won`t even comment on Chalkias.

If it we me, I would go like this:

--------------------Sifakis--------------------
Torosidis-Papadopoulos-Katsouranis-Holebas
Fetfatzidis--------Karagounis---------Ninis
Salpiggidis--------Mitroglou--------Fortounis

»This is wayyyy too offensive though, but IMO the best lineup we can field for the Czechs.

Think Greece will win this, the Czech's were so poor and uninspired vs. Russia. Greece are a painful side to watch though.

Here's what I've got:

Greece: 4-3-3

Chalkias

Torosidis - Papadapoulos - Katsouranis- Holebas

Maniatis - Makos - Karagounis

Salpangidis - Gekas - Samaras

Pekhart

Pilar - Rosicky - Rezek

Jiracek - Plasil

Limbersky - Sivok - Kadlec - Gebre Salassi

Cech

Czech Rep 4-2-3-1:

Several changes in both teams.

That line-up looks just disgraceful in many ways, Fortounis showed more than Samaras and Gekas did together. Salpi needs atleast a decent technical player on the pitch who can provide him passes because otherwise he will just run, run and run in no man's land

I'll plump for 1-1, because Czech Republic have enough in them to score a goal, but Greece will want to win this too as they're probably going to have to win this in order to get through their group. But the game won't be great, probably a little like Ukraine - Sweden was last night without the heroics of two legendary strikers!

Will be a good game. So far the "big" teams have disappointed and it's been the smaller nations that provided the best matches. The exception might be Spain-Italy which was fascinating to watch just from a tactical point of view.
