Sunday 10th June 18:00 CET - Spain v Italy

So whats your thoughts on the game. Italy team is still unclear, however recent reports suggest a 3-5-2 will be played. First time Italy play this since I think World Cup 2002 qualifying.

Italy team back then:

Buffon; Cannavaro, Nesta, Maldini; Zambrotta, Albertini, Tommasi, Coco; Totti; Vieri, Del Piero

Italy team now:

Buffon; Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini; Maggio, Motta, Pirlo, Marchisio, Giaccherini; Balotelli, Cassano

Even with their injuries I respect Italy a lot, and I'm not very convinced with Spain at the moment. It's not going to be easy, I wouldn't be surprised with a draw or an Italian win.

I say 1-0. Not sure to which way.

To expand on this, whichever team score first will be able to hold out until the end. Spain has a shit finishing so its unlikely they will score more than 1, and the rest will be tiki taka, i.e. holding the possession vs toothless Italy. And conversely, if Italy score first on the counter, they will bunker and Spain's strikers need 5-10 clear chances to score once. Cannot see Torres or Negredo scoring.

I also think 1-0.

...But...it's just so hard not to see Italy get beaten the crap out of.

Completely agree. This match will be a passive 0-0 draw.

Italy to hold a draw against Spain. Croatia should really give their all the first game because for the second round whoever wins between them will be in a good situation IMO.

That doesn't look good. I hate this 3-5-2 formation, never works. Not sure why Prandelli thinks he can use it against World Champions Spain.
