Euro Cup 2012: Will it disappoint?

Last great final took place in 2000 (Italy vs France). Unfortunately, the Italians were robbed .
2004 Euro = CRAP beyond CRAP
2008 Euro = MORE smelly CRAP

Dagoods doesn’t get it…
Some peons claim the Euro tournaments are way more competitive than Copa America tournaments ...OH YEAH where’s the evidence? According to these peons , there are many more European NTs which are simply better than most S. American nations . LIES ALL LIEEES !

The Copa America is a much better tournament:
The two biggest giants in football compete in this tournament.

CA 04 = Superb Tournament
CA 07 = One of the best tournaments ever
CA 11 = Very intense tournament

Yup, Dagoods cannot wait to see some: Hard working robots running like headless chickens...with little to no creative ability !

WHAT SAY YOU?
Your thoughts...your thoughts...

Well, since a major team in Bosnia is missing out, it won't be as interesting for me...

Seriously though, I will find the group with Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal very entertaining, the Group of Death for sure. Honestly, the only boring group to me is Group A. Other than that, I am expecting a classic matches or two to come out of this tournament... And I noticed you said the 2004 and 2007 Copa America's were fantastic and superb... what happened to last year's edition? It was terrible and very boring, o of course you should expect people and fans to be more excited for Euro. And I disagree, the two biggest giants in football are not in South America, they are Spain and Netherlands.

In Dagoods' defense, he created more of compare and contrast thread between COpa America vs. Euro than a straight up Euro 2012 thread.

What? Euro 2008 was a great tournament. Better than the last two World Cups for sure.

Though, I would be in favor of an intercontinental cup. Replace the Confed Cup with it. Best four nations from Europe and S. America. Knockout tournament with a loser's bracket.

If there were an intercontinental cup to replace the Euros, I would be in favor of a six-team intercontinental tournament, where the top two from UEFA and CONMEBOL, one from AFC, and one from CONCACAF. First stage is the group stage, with a random draw of three teams in two groups... The top two teams of each group go into a knockout tourney, (format is A1 vs. B2 and B1 vs. A2, one game knockout). Then the two winners compete for gold, and obviously the losers go for bronze...

Euro 2008 was a very good tournament in my opinion, don't know what you were watching

To answer this question, who knows, maybe it won't be a big deal but it could be a concern about the travel involved in this tournament. Only three teams will have their training bases in Ukraine (France, Ukraine and Sweden). All the teams in Group B (playing in Kharkiv/Lviv) have their camps in Poland and will travel over 6,000km in a short period of time. Maybe its not big deal as they will have 5-star accomidations...

Copa America 2011 was very bad, sorry...a team made the final without winning a match and playing 3 0:0 draws in the process. Also, I hate cold weather tournaments like Argentina 2011 and South Africa 2010, just looks bad

Euro 2008 is the last major international tournament worth mentioning apart from this year's African Cup of Nations. It was excellent. Good weather, wonderful stadia and large support, surprises and great football, no England, etc.

This edition could be even better imo but it's tough to tell right now. Group B is bound to throw up some excitement and Groups C and D might go down to the wire for the most part. We'll see but I think this thread has come very early. There is still much of the club season left to be played and we don't even know the squads yet, I would have waited until then.

will it disappoint....hmmm....well, for me it depends on what team´s winning it. Spain NT again dominant -> boring.

The level in general should be high, there´s some NTs that play really good and attractive football. Whoever survives the Group of Death has a very good chance to win the Tournament.

This is definitely a crap effort in trolling from Dagoods. Copa America is not even watchable these days, let alone being better than Euros. Euro 2000 is probably the greatest tournament of recent times, Euro 2008 was good too. Euro 2004 had matches like Czech Rep. Vs Holland which one can never see in the Copa. Dagoods, however hellbent you might be on proving that South America is better than Europe, your efforts are falling flat. And 2 biggest giants of world football? Brazilian supporters are ashamed of their NT now-a-days and I am not even mentioning Argentina.

2008 had a disappointing final but the tournament was quite good overall, best since 2000 EC or WC. 2004 was awful though.

Any team who faces Spain should show the same game passion and approach that Chile showed vs Spain. That was the most entertaining of all Spain's ties in WC.

There's a lot of teams in this Euro that I don't like so I'm not as excited. So I think these teams most of them will probably not even challenge most of the top tiers and just bend over to them. I'll hope I'm wrong though.

The only thing that will excite me is the group of death involving Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, and Portugal. That will be worth watching.
