Turkey v Croatia

Another really tough game to choose who can advance. Both teams have surprised in the Euros in the past and had a really good game and wasn't it these 2 with a memorable game in Euro '08 with a late Turkish comeback?

I am going to go with Croatia sneaking through, maybe could even go all the way to penalties over the 2 legs?

I see Guus has been doing pretty badly with Turkey and that's a worry for them. But at the same time if I know Guus, he doesn't start worrying until the big games arrive and this is one of them (well 2 actually).

I think that's still Turkey's main advantage over Croatia, Hiddink Vs Bilic. Both teams haven't been great in recent times but despite the coaching advantage I only see a 55-45 for Turkey here.

I think if Turkey had a legitimate starting lone forward, it would have been a different story. But since they've been sticking with Burak Yilmaz whose in incompetent in the bigger games. They won't be able to score (i.e. look how difficult it was for them in the Azerbaijan game). I'm going with Croatia, Modric and their other midfielders are at least capable of scoring compared to the Turkish midfielders, so even if a a weak forward like Mario has problems, they'll still scratch through.

Tough prediction here. It will all depend on the first leg in Istanbul IMO. If Turkey manages a good result in the first game they are through.

Croatia is a bit on a low compared to the last Euro 2008 when they were in great form. Turkey with Hiddink are slightly favourites.

Turkey didn't struggle against Azerbaijan, the score-line looks like it made us struggle (1-0).

I really want to know what kind of team we would field if we were injury free. If the likes of Sabri Sarioglu, Selcuk Sahin, Hakan Balta etc.. get to play then we're more likely to lose.

Turks 0-1 Croats
Croats 2-2 Turks

That's my prediction and my predictions almost always come true. Especially well with Slovenia's results but generally good over all.

The Turks always shoot themselves in the foot in the qualifiers, so it should be Croatia. Had this been in the finals I would have said Turkey.

I also think Croatia will advance but Turkey and Hiddink can surprise again.

Turkey will espace through this IMO like most Hiddink teams do. The result in Istanbul plays key.

Well, Hiddink's Russia lost in the play-offs of the WC 2010 qualififation...

The man, although being an excellent coach, can fail after all.

I only would saw Croatia because of the second leg. Really this is a coin toss

The Irish gave the bagpipes to the Scots as a joke, but the Scots haven't seen the joke yet.

Yeah I'd say 50/50. Because I know Turkey can play really well, so gotta hope for no more injuries, luck and bla bla bla.

When is this game btw?

November 11th or 12th is the first game. 15th is the second. I think I heard that the deadline for exact times and locations will be Oct 20th.

Is it true that if you don't use it, you lose it?

I won't make a prediction but since Hiddink keeps getting mentioned in this thread, it should be noted that he has never defeated the Croatian NT in a competitive match (South Korea beat our 'B' team in Seoul)

Croatia 2-1 Holland - WC 98
Croatia 2-2 Australia - WC 2006
Russia 0-0 Croatia - EC 2008 Qualifying
Croatia 0-0 Russia - " "

but at WC '06 he eliminated Croatia with a draw, now he can do the same with two draws: 0:0 and 1:1

The poll for this should be how many seats will be torn out at Maksimir and Aslantepe, 5,000? 10,000? All of them?

First, I want to say that, I signed up on this forum just to write a comment about these upcoming games between Turkey and Croatia.

I am Turkish living in US, and I play casual football with people from so many different nations, and played with a lot of Croatian players. What I didn't know and learned by listening to them is: Croats are VERY racist especially against Turkish people, due to history from 400 years ago. Turks, in return, do not have any beef specifically with Croats. I have never seen a more racist group than Croat players, and I played soccer with people from almost any nation.

The fact that Croatia lost back in 2008 (and thereafter that historical game, there were also lots of incidents between Bosnian Turks and Croats) and the fact that the first game will be played in Turkey...I can only imagine how bloody the second leg will be in Croatia!

To Croatians, this Turkey game is like the final, like the epic battle they were taught in their history books ever since they were kids. It is about REVENGE to them!

We Turks do NOT even realize how life-threatening the second leg in Croatia will be! Croats keep talking about a big surprise waiting for the Turkish NT in Croatia. We have a chance to get even with them in the first leg in Turkey, if you know what I mean.

it`s really tough to predict who`s gonna win this match. both are decent teams and don`t want to lose this last chance for them to qualify. i`m a bit tend to say croatia will go through.

we should admit that their teams in last euro were far better than these one.

i wish to see 2 interesting games.
